Hyundai Motor America Reports March 2026 and Record-Breaking Q1 Sales

  • Strongest Q1 on record; total sales climb 1%
  • Hybrid‑electric total sales jump 50% in March; 61% for Q1
  • IONIQ 5 and HEV lineup lead March and Q1 record results
  • SUV portfolio surges; Santa Fe and Tucson families set Q1 total sales records
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., April 1, 2026 – Hyundai Motor America reported total March sales of 84,087 units, a 3 percent decrease compared with March 2025, reflecting a challenging year-over-year comparison following an unusually strong industry pull‑ahead last year. Hyundai delivered historic results across its electrified portfolio to reinforce its balanced portfolio strategy and consumer appeal.

Hyundai CEO Highlights Strongest Q1 Ever as SUVs and Electrified Vehicles Drive Growth
“Hyundai closed the first quarter with a 1 percent year-over-year increase in total sales, delivering the strongest first quarter in our history and underscoring the resilience of our business in a highly competitive market,” said Randy Parker, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “That growth reflects the strength of our balanced portfolio strategy, led by strong demand for our SUVs and record results across our hybrid electric and electrified lineup. With the support of our dealers and the confidence of our customers, Hyundai continues to build sustainable momentum across every powertrain and key segment.”

Electrified Vehicle Performance – Best March Ever
Hyundai delivered its best March ever for hybrid electric vehicle sales, led by Sonata HEV (+150%), Elantra HEV (+92%) and Santa Fe HEV (+31%). Electric vehicle performance was led by IONIQ 5, which achieved its best-ever March total sales, rising 13 percent year-over-year. Together, these results underscore Hyundai’s ability to generate momentum across multiple electrified segments while supporting long-term adoption.

Q1 Highlights
Hyundai closed Q1 with total sales of 205,388 units, a 1 percent increase year-over-year and the strongest first quarter for total sales in company history. Q1 performance was driven by outstanding results across Hyundai’s portfolio, with strong total sales gains from Santa Fe HEV (+47%), Elantra HEV (+141%), Sonata HEV (+107%), IONIQ 5 (+14%) and Tucson (+4%). Taken together, Q1 performance demonstrates Hyundai’s ability to convert monthly demand into consistent, broad‑based growth across key nameplates and powertrains.

American Honda Posts Strong March and Q1 Auto Sales Results

April 1, 2026
  • American Honda (AHM) posted sales of 130,074 units in March, and 336,830 units in the 1st quarter (Q1) of 2026, a strong result masked by a YoY comparison to March 2025, when consumers pulled ahead new vehicle purchases in anticipation of the impact of tariffs.
  • Honda brand enjoyed a strong month with sales of 117,677, and Q1 sales of 304,478 units.
  • Acura brand sales totaled 12,397 in March, up over 5% YTD, with its best Q1 sales in four years of 32,352 units.
Executive Comment: Lance Woelfer, Vice President of Auto Sales, American Honda Motor Co., Inc:
“While the comparison to a year ago isn’t a good barometer for auto sales as the market saw significant consumer pull-ahead due to incoming tariffs, our sales performance is very strong with the Acura brand up year to date and Honda posting a strong month led by robust sales of both passenger cars and light trucks.”

Sales Highlights
  • Balanced sales of Honda light trucks and fuel-efficient passenger cars helped the brand reach sales of 117,677 units.
  • CR-V led the Honda lineup with sales of 40,793 units, the model’s best month since April 2025. CR-V hybrid represented 56% of the model mix.
  • Passport sales of 4,979 in March led to a new Q1 record for the model, with TrailSport trims accounting for 80% of sales.
  • Electrified models performed well as customers gravitated toward more fuel-efficient vehicles: Honda hybrid models established a new Q1 record on sales of 95,882, CR-V and Accord hybrids accounted for more than 55% of sales mix, Civic hybrid also achieved a Q1 sales record, and the Prologue EV topped 1,500 units.
  • Both HR-V and Pilot topped 11,000 units in March, with Pilot posting its best sales result in 11months (April 2025).
  • Odyssey continues as a leader in minivan segment with 7,262 units sold in March.
  • Honda passenger car sales, up 6.8% YTD, saw March sales of 36,704 units - the best month since August 2025, led by Civic and Accord, with its best month of 2026 and Prelude continuing to sell on pace at 280 units.

Sales Highlights
  • Acura sales reached 12,397 in March, up 5.2% in Q1, driven by the success of the Acura Allegiance Program attracting loyal customers to the brand’s gateway models – ADX and Integra – and Acura SUVs, which posted their best Q1 in 6 years (25,537).
  • ADX topped 2,600 units in March, as it continues to capture around 30% of retail sales in its segment. This is the first month ever of combined sales over 5,000 units for the brand’s gateway models of ADX and Integra.
  • Integra, refreshed in late 2025, saw sales jump 42% to 2,730 units in March, with strong supply helping it post its best month since September 2023. Integra maintains a significant lead in its segment, with over 35% retail sales share.

Nissan Group reports 2026 1st quarter sales as the fastest-growing U.S. brand

A photo collage of the 2026 Nissan Frontier, Armada, Pathfinder and INFINITI QX60.April 1, 2026
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan Group announced total U.S. 1st quarter (January through March) sales for 2026 of 247,068 units, a decrease of 7.5% versus the prior year, while retail sales increased 9.6%, supported by a disciplined strategy, increasing sales of U.S.-built vehicles.

The 1st quarter's performance was supported by continued momentum throughout the period, including a strong finish in March. The company marked 6 consecutive months of retail growth, and is the fastest‑growing mainstream brand in the U.S.

Even as the broader industry declined, Nissan gained market share, underscoring the power of its product lineup and retailer network. That momentum extended to INFINITI as well, which outpaced the luxury segment by growing share in a down market and was recognized as the most improved brand in the J.D. Power Customer Service Index Study.

Nissan Division highlights:

Nissan’s truck and SUV lineup delivered strong 1st quarter momentum, driven by strong consumer demand across Frontier, Pathfinder, Armada, Kicks and Rogue.
  • Sales of the Nissan Frontier were up 47.9% year-over-year for the quarter.
  • Sales of the Nissan Pathfinder were up 45.2% year-over-year for the quarter.
  • Sales of the Nissan Armada were up 17.5% year-over-year for the quarter.
  • Sales of the Nissan Kicks were up 16.4% year-over-year for the quarter
  • Sales of the Nissan Rogue were up 13% year-over-year for the quarter.

INFINITI highlights:

  • Sales of the QX60 were up 64% year-over-year for the quarter, serving as the brand’s volume leader.
  • INFINITI revealed the all-new 2027 QX65, reaching retailers in early summer 2026 and expected to increase sales volume.
“March retail sales increased 7%, while our 1st‑quarter performance continues to show the strength of our brands and our growing momentum. Even in a challenging market, customers are responding to our lineup, especially our trucks and SUVs, and our retail partners continue to deliver exceptional results, said Tiago Castro, senior vice president, U.S. Marketing & Sales, Nissan and INFINITI. “We also saw INFINITI outpace the luxury segment and earn recognition for its customer experience, reinforcing the power of our product strategy and the dedication of our teams. With this foundation, we’re entering the next quarter with confidence and strong demand across both Nissan and INFINITI.”

NOTE: To ensure consistency in global sales reporting, Nissan North America calculates quarterly variances on a straight-percentage basis, unadjusted for the number of selling days. First quarter 2026 had 75 selling days and first quarter 2025 had 75 selling days.

SUBARU OF AMERICA REPORTS MARCH 2026 SALES

  • Forester remains top-seller for third month in a row
  • Best month ever for electric vehicle sales
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported 54,674 vehicle sales for March 2026, a 23.5 percent decrease which can be attributed to last year’s record-breaking pull-ahead sales. Forester sales remained strong, making it the volume leader for the third month in a row and increasing the model’s sales over February by reaching 20,412 vehicles sold. Solterra also made a mark, achieving its best month ever with 1,736 vehicles sold.

Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc.: “This March, Subaru and our retailers continued to deliver the affordable, safe, and versatile vehicles that customers count on. Although results did not reach last year’s all-time record sales due to the March 2025 sales pull-ahead, this month highlighted the steady demand, led by our top-selling assembled-in-America Subaru Forester, and marked the best-ever month for the Solterra EV. We are confident that our growing lineup of gas, hybrid, and electric vehicles will contribute to our long-term momentum.”

Following Forester's top-seller position in March, Crosstrek and Outback numbers also increased over February, ranking second and third with 15,721 and 10,004 vehicles sold, respectively. Beginning next month, Subaru EV sales reporting will include Trailseeker and Uncharted, joining Solterra as those two new models reach retailer locations.

Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales, Subaru of America, Inc.: “Subaru retailers remain focused on delivering a seamless experience that builds lasting trust with our customers. From showroom to service, our teams are committed to connecting drivers with vehicles known for their longevity, capability, safety, and value. With all-new additions like our all-electric family-focused Getaway SUV and adventure-ready Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid coming to retailer locations soon, we are ready to meet customer needs with consistency and care.”

Mitsubishi Motors Reports 1st Quarter 2026 Sales

Download Subscribe
ShareFRANKLIN, Tenn., April 1, 2026Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) today reported 1st‑quarter 2026 sales of 26,884 units. While total Q1 sales declined 15% year‑over‑year due to the sell‑through of the Mirage subcompact sedan—whose production concluded in late 2024—the brand’s SUV lineup continued its strong upward trajectory, with combined SUV sales rising more than 10% across the quarter.
2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport sales up 75% year-over-year2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport sales up 75% year-over-year

With a focus for 2026 firmly centered on SUVs, Mitsubishi Motors remains committed to delivering value and capability through America’s Best Backed Vehicles, including three SUV models starting under $30,000.

Stronger inventory levels and the relaunch of a new entry model—the Outlander Sport "S" trim, starting at $24,9951—helped propel Outlander Sport to become the brand’s volume leader for the quarter. Sales of 12,076 represent an increase of nearly 75% year‑over‑year. With a 2WD variant of the model returning later this year, Outlander Sport will further strengthen the lineup and help offset the planned sunset of Mirage sales.

Later in 2026, MMNA will introduce 2 significant additions to its SUV portfolio: the brand’s first battery‑electric vehicle and a rugged, off‑road‑focused Outlander variant. Both models are key milestones in MMNA’s Momentum 2030 business plan, which commits to launching at least one new or significantly updated vehicle each year through fiscal 2030.

Eclipse Cross delivered a standout performance with 6,852 units sold, up more than 83% year‑over‑year and marking the model’s 2nd‑best quarter ever. Outlander posted sales of 6,780, down approximately 23% from the previous quarter, influenced by the sell-down of MY25 inventory. In Q2 and forwards, Outlander sales will transition to the new 2026 Outlander featuring a new mild hybrid powertrain. The Outlander Plug‑in Hybrid improved its QoQ growth trend with 1,144 units sold, an increase of nearly 41% quarter‑over‑quarter.

For more information on the full lineup of Mitsubishi vehicles, visit MitsubishiCars.com.

News and Notes
  • MMNA recently announced its electrified flagship vehicle, the 2026 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid will arrive in Mitsubishi Motors dealerships in early May, with pricing starting at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $43,2451. The refreshed vehicle boasts updates and improvements throughout the vehicle, including increased all-electric range, more driving power, an updated interior and exterior, and the critically acclaimed Yamaha audio system so well received in the 2025 Outlander.
  • In January, MMNA provided Nashville-based nonprofit organization Cumberland River Compact with a one-year loan of a 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) as part of its Community Utility Vehicle (CUV) Program. MMNA's partnership will support The Compact's critical work in education, restoration, and outreach programs that enhance the health and enjoyment of the Cumberland River and its tributaries.
  • MMNA incorporated AT&T 5G connectivity into the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander. This enables even more tech inside, including ultra-fast data speeds, enhanced entertainment options and improved system performance. Going beyond entertainment, over-the-air updates, powered by AT&T 5G, will let Mitsubishi Motors remotely deliver software upgrades and security patches to select vehicle systems. This means Outlanders will stay up to date with the latest technology, improved performance, and enhanced features – all with greater convenience and reduced downtime.

Probably a bit of everything no? Who knows what some moron will post on social media by the time you wake up tomorrow. The last thing Toyota wants is to overproduce and then the economy crashes and now they have to discount everything massively.

In the first quarter of 2026, nearly 12% of BMW vehicles sold in the U.S. had either a battery electric (BEV) or plug in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrain. The 9,856 “electrified” vehicles sold in the first quarter represent a 50% decrease from the 19,761 vehicles sold in the first of 2025.

MINI.

MINI sales totaled 6,261 vehicles in the first quarter of 2026, which represents a decrease of 10.2% from the 6,976 vehicles delivered during the same period in 2025.

The sales reported in today’s figures are of BMW passenger cars and light trucks, as well as MINI passenger cars. Consistent with auto industry practice in the U.S., BMW of North America follows the U.S. Auto Industry Sales Release Schedule issued annually by Motor Intelligence for purposes of reporting sales of BMW passenger cars and light trucks and MINI passenger cars. As a result, the sales of BMW passenger cars and light trucks and MINI passenger cars reflected in today’s Q1 2026 report occurred between January 5, 2026 and March 31, 2026.

GM Maintains Sales Leadership in Q1
2025 GMC Sierra Denali 1500General Motors led the U.S. auto industry in sales for the first quarter, as momentum in March helped results partially recover from a slower January and February, when winter storms impacted the market.

GM sales in Q1 totaled 626,429 vehicles, a decline of 9.7% compared with the same period a year earlier. GM expects a similar decline for the industry as a whole. Year-over-year comparisons are significantly skewed by an exceptionally high selling rate in March of 2025, when industry-wide sales soared to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of more than 18 million units.

“We saw showroom traffic and sales steadily improve after January’s storms and March was a much stronger month. We are well positioned for the future because of our operating discipline and the compelling value we offer, from affordable SUVs to premium vehicles and trucks.” – Duncan Aldred, GM Senior Vice President and President of North America.

In Q1, GM grew its market share in full-size pickup trucks and continued to be the industry’s #2 EV seller. GM delivers value across more price points than any automaker, including a portfolio of six Chevrolet and Buick vehicles with a starting at about $30,000 or less.

Other highlights:
  • Best Q1 of retail share ever for GMC driven by sales of Canyon and Terrain
  • Cadillac continues to lead the luxury EV market, with EV sales up 20%.
  • Best Q1 for fleet sales since 2020

Apr 9, 2026 – Atlanta
  • Mercedes-Benz USA retailed 78,500 vehicles in Q1 2026, including 70,000 passenger cars and 8,500 vans.
  • Q1 retail sales results were underpinned by continued demand for core SUVs, with the GLC and the U.S.-built GLE and GLS growing by more than 22% and representing 61% of Q1 passenger car retail sales.
  • Top-end U.S. vehicle sales remained strong, led by double‑digit growth from the G‑Class, SL and Mercedes‑Maybach.
Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) reported retail sales of 78,500 vehicles in the first quarter of 2026, which is comprised of 70,000 passenger cars and 8,500 vans. This strong performance, despite significant market headwinds, was primarily driven by sustained demand across the versatile portfolio of SUVs. Overall, sales of the GLC and the Alabama-built GLE and GLS grew by 22% and accounted for 61% of passenger-car retail sales, with each posting year-over-year gains respectively for the quarter.

"Our 1st-quarter results reflect the resilience of our incredible dealer network and strong demand despite challenging market conditions across the U.S. auto industry. Our core SUV lineup continues to resonate with customers, and top-end vehicle sales remain brisk with strong sustained interest in our awe-inspiring AMG models. With a highly desirable product range that will be further strengthened with exceptional new products on the way, together with our dealer partners we remain squarely focused on delivering an outstanding ownership experience at every touchpoint."
Adam Chamberlain, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA

Top-End:

The G-Class recorded a 16% year-over-year sales increase in the 1st quarter. Retail sales of the iconic SL climbed 47% in the same period, and overall AMG retail deliveries are up 3% year-to-date. Maybach retail sales surged 22%, underscoring continued demand for the brand's most exclusive offerings.

Core:

The GLE, proudly built in Alabama, delivered a 19% year-over-year increase for first-quarter sales. The Tuscaloosa, Alabama production facility celebrated the 5 millionth vehicle produced in the U.S. last week. The GLC also posted notable sales gains with retail deliveries up 17% over the same period.

Entry:

Customer interest and excitement surrounding the CLA continues to build across the U.S. market, with wider availability expected in the 2nd quarter as current production has been prioritized to meet strong demand in Europe.

Vans:

Mercedes-Benz Vans reported retail sales of 8,500 units in the first quarter. The brand remains focused on delivering versatile, premium van solutions that support evolving business needs.

Mercedes-Benz Group:

In the 1st quarter of 2026, Mercedes-Benz Group sold 499,700 cars and vans globally, in line with the company's expectations. Strong demand for newly launched models and continued growth in key markets supported the ongoing product ramp-up in 2026.

"The 1st quarter was characterized by sales growth outside of China, alongside an excellent market response to our newly launched models. The new electric GLC has generated more orders in the first three months than any other electric vehicle in our history, while order intakes for the other new models, including the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, significantly exceed our expectations. Further tailwinds will come from the recently unveiled GLE and GLS, alongside the upcoming world premiere of the all-new electric C-Class. As the availability of our new products scales up, we remain highly focused on converting this strong customer interest into overall sales momentum in the coming months."
