Although done on the same basic platform, the FWD 300M was noticeably nicer inside and out than the Concorde was....that's one reason why it sold well. The Concorde wasn't much different from its Dodge, Eagle, and Plymouth cousins....somewhat like the old basic Chrysler Newports of the 60s and 70s.

I had a '93 or '94 Dodge Intrepid company car similar to this pic. It was pretty decent with a few minor problems now and then. It had good interior room with the "cab forward" design".

So many iconic sedans are gone forever - Crown Vic, Towncar, Taurus, Impala, Caprice, and so many other discontinued models.
But the second gen wasn’t as “baller” looking as the first gen and didn’t have the same impact. Nobody shopping for an actual luxury car considered either one.

For some(many?) people, the concept of luxury may be relative to their income.

I knew someone who told me their Ford Probe was a "sports car". Lol

The whole idea of "luxury" in a vehicle sems to have changed over the years. When I was growing up, with classic American cars, ""Luxury" usually meant a long wheelbase, lots of weight, plush seating inside, lots of power-accessories, comfort/convieneice items, fancy trim inside and out, a smooth-running V8, a plush soft ride, lots of sound insulation, and cosmetic-items like hood ornaments, whitewall tires, vinyl roofs, Landau trim, etc..... It also usually meant steamship-handling, slow steering response, and mostly driving in a straight line.

Today, in contrast, it seems like "Luxury" means a six-figure price, more screens/computer-functions than NASA headquarters, every kind of safety-device in the industry, gimmick upon gimmick in the screens, 40 different ways to adjust your seat, F1-grade handling, graphics worthy of the Starship Enterprise, entertainment systems for kids, and an Owners' Manual that is thicker than the old New York City telephone book LOL.

I knew someone who told me their Ford Probe was a "sports car". Lol
The Probe was a sports-coupe, not a sports-car per se. A true sports car, traditionally, has two seats, relatively light weight, RWD, and, often (but not always), a partial or fully-convertible top. More often than not, it will also have a traditional three-pedal manual transmission.

Ford had plans for the Probe to replace the Mustang, but, once that word got out, this was the reaction..............

Chysler, Jeep and Ram just need to fail. They have been building junk for years. Over priced junk. I sold those brands for years. I always told the reps who came to our dealership build them cheap and we will stack them deep. They never listened. They deserve to fail. The cars suck. They over priced everything. I know for a fact it costs almost no difference to make the most expensive Wranger compared to the cheapest Wrangler. They only build the most expensive models. The whole business model sucks. I could run the business better high on weed gummies.

How about Dodge? Or did you purposely omit them?

I've owned 5 Chryslers and by and large the product is not bad and offers a lot for the money.

What was the fifth one? You had, as I recall, two JGCs and two Pacificas.

First car was a 89 Probe GT Turbo. Mincey 140ish HP out of a 2.2 turbo with a 5 speed. By no means was a sports car.
But, it was free and cheap to own for me as it was a hand-me-down. It had 72k miles on it when I moronically traded it in on a 1992 Camaro Z28. (The Fat Elvis of Camaros)
To which my parents said "I was on my own for insurance." I learned that year how a V8 + Teen = $$$$

If Ford wanted that car to be a Mustang replacement. At time when the SHO and Thunderbird Super Coupes were out.
They should have stuck the 3.8 Supercharged V6 and 5spd into it and made it RWD. Even the Yamaha SHO motor and RWD would have been amazing.

At least you had the turbo!
I feel pity on the owners who didn't.
