And, they have good colors, I know that for sure.
People always complain regardless. They often compare apple to orange to make their point too. Compared to the old i3, this is a winner. The exterior is not for everyone but people b*** about iX when it first came out too. Now... "oh, it looks good. It grew on me." Lol. Interior is not for me but if people don't complain about their Tesla's, I really don't see why they complain about this. The most sad part of all this is (I think) some say they will let go the i4. And they have more than good colors. Of course, these are all my opinions.

Agreed specs are strong. Recharging is going to be fast.

Just saw the ES specs and they are nowhere close.

European range estimates are always higher. I didn't watch the press conference so I don't know what they are referring to. For example, Euro WLTP cycle says the Tesla M3 will go 466 miles of range for Long Range RWD, but in EPA, it's only 330?

The 440 mile range for the i3 is reportedly EPA, not WLTP. It is very efficient.

While not new, it's worth mentioning that this one is bidirectional charging.

I think the exterior looks great, particularly that blue paint.
The interior is a let down but most new cars are these days.
That range is for US, so it's going to be very efficient.

you’re right. That’s what they are reporting. I also saw it’s a 108kw battery which is double what the standard Model 3 had. I would say the range is in line with how big the battery is.

by comparison Lucid air has less than 90kw battery and has the same range

It won't even do 50 in Russian winter then.

Here is a comparison between the EV and ICE 3 series
Happy to take you on the wager there.

It will be a failure like the i4, i5, iX etc
The exterior has FWD proportions a la MB EQ cars and interior is a separate disaster.

The beautiful Taycan can’t sell but this weird thing will…not sure about that. Also Model 3 is hard to beat.

The new ICE 3series is coming soon and will have carryover engines so I don’t see this EV version stealing many sales from it.

BMW has way too many models and now separate platforms for EVs and ICE. Can’t be good for the economics and profit margins.

I think this winter in Northeast persuaded many ppl away from EVs.

They are great to have in sunny climates especially if you have solar power.

I don't know what you based off to make such statement but definitely not what I've seen around here, esp iX. They're everywhere. IMO, these cars are great EVs. The only downside from iX is its cup holder and its price. I read that some i4 owners already plan to dump/jump for this i3. I don't see how but it looks like it attracts EV folks. Maybe the range.

One of my neighbors has 2 iXs.
He got one and the other was 50% off, not joking.
They were doing silly lease deals on them last year. I can’t imagine how much BMW lost on the iX.

BTW X5 sells more in one month then iX sold for full year so yeah its a failure…

Comparing the iX and iX3 does not make sense as they are competing in different classes and price ranges

Comparing the i3 to the Taycan makes even less sense. You also said the Model 3 is hard to beat, yet compared the i3to the Taycan...

I would argue that on paper the i3 is an even better car than the Model 3.

Key Differences Between the iX and iX3:
  • Architecture & Design: The iX is built on a dedicated, unique electric platform, often described as a tech flagship, while the iX3 (particularly the new 2026 model) is built on a fresh, highly efficient platform, or an existing one in earlier models. The iX has a more avant-garde design, while the iX3 maintains a more traditional SUV shape.
  • Performance & Charging: The 2026 iX3 uses 6th-gen battery technology with 800-volt systems (270–300 kW charging), potentially offering faster charging than the 400-volt iX, which charges at 175–195 kW. The iX typically offers higher power output options, while the iX3 focuses on efficiency.
  • Interior & Technology: The iX features a futuristic, luxurious interior with a large curved display. The iX3 (2026) offers a cleaner, "lighter" cabin featuring a "panoramic vision" display and newer iDrive 9 software, compared to the iX's iDrive 8.5.
  • Size & Practicality: The iX is generally more spacious, with a completely flat rear floor, whereas the iX3 offers high practicality and often a slightly better official boot capacity, making it a better family option for some.
  • Positioning: The iX is positioned as a higher-end, luxury, and premium model, while the iX3 is positioned as a more accessible, everyday premium EV.
