here’s why i will never own a porsche
Never mind the pricing/luring scams.... a Porsche is simply not my dream machine, period. Although I have, admittedly, not sampled their most upmarket or expensive models, I have driven some Porsches, from older 944 and 928 models to more modern Boxster and Cayman models, and, while they admittedly handled extremely well, that's just not the type of vehicle that really puts a smile on my face.
one thing pointed out in the video is buying cpo, but if the dealer’s involved no doubt there will still be all kinds of games and pricing tricks.
but maybe buying a used checked out porsche is the way to go.

this video perfectly captures what’s involved in buying a porsche, and why i will therefore never own one, lol.

I can't stand this way of business but it is what it is and as much as I would like a GT3 I don't see myself ever getting one based on the shenanigans it takes to get one (although I still would consider a GT4 since they are less desirable). Rolex is the exact same way and I can't stand it. I just paid over $10k above MSRP for an unworn new Daytona a couple weeks ago even though I said I never would but I couldn't source one from a dealer anywhere with any connections I had so I just paid the premium because I wanted the watch. They do the same thing and look at your spend history and make you buy watches you don't want in order to give you hope that they will actually sell you the one you want in the future with no guarantees. F that, my experience with the grey dealer was way better even though I had to pay more.
sold my POS 17 Carrera S, 3 waterpumps in 50K miles all under warranty but no loaner and they keep the car a month for parts and the service dept acts like they are doing me a favor for looking at car.LUV the LC...zero issues in 2 years 10K miles.

No I won't play those games with watches or cars.
Well the cost of entry is just insane now for a 911. This was an 80/90k base car 15 years ago now it’s 135k to start. A base GT3 was 135k 10 years ago and now it’s what 205k now?
As a long time Porsche nut who loved the 911, that love has been lost quite a bit.
Cost of ownership is nothing new and yes it can be scary.

Jay Leno apparently doesn't own any Ferraris - just because of the BS pay-to-play attitude of the dealers.

I respect the ability of the high end Porsches but I don't really like them on a personal level because of the engine type.
Used is the only way to go IMO to avoid the BS and the high end versions are quite reliable, I wouldn't bother for a second buying anything short of the 911 turbo as everything else is overpriced and underperforming vs just getting a C8. Now if the goal is to just have the brand as a bragging point that's different, that case it's best to buy one of the SUVs lol!
Even then the top versions are really good driving cars but expensive and can be a hassle to buy exactly what you want. The panamera is a great deal used since it doesn't have the halo pricing effect of 911s and you get way more car for the money, literally able to get a top spec one of those and a C8 for the cost of a basic 911

This video is pretty much nonsense.
Besides the GT cars and special editions like S/T, SportClassic etc - you can buy any 911 at msrp or even nowadays at a discount!
Also people fail to look at the TOTAL cost of ownership - yes a 911 is expensive but it retains value better than every other sports car. You are able to option it with nothing or go crazy with PTS and personalized interior etc.
There is a reason the 911 has been so successful and continues to have such strong demand.
I may be biased but it’s also the truth 😀
