Just drove around a little in EV mode, it’s great. Unlike the Pacifica you can lock the Toyota system into EV mode and you can put the accelerator pedal to the floor and it won’t run the engine. It’s also plenty quick in just EV mode.
I do like it when you can lock a car into EV only, same deal with engine always on and hybrid is just an assist. I don't like the engine changing state unless I tell it to
I don't think I could handle a regular cruise.... too many people in your face.. Just looking at those huge modern cruise ships, not really any desire there.
Viking Cruises, however, we are looking into. We want Alaskan cruise. We have a boat and I don't care about laying out in the sun on a cruise, especially with 1,000 people within 50 yards of me..
not much interest in cruises either, my family also always preferred ski trips when possible lol... but i've always liked the classiness of 1900s ocean liners and i've noticed some parallels between them and luxury cars, mainly that once the transportation itself aspect stopped being the glamorous aspect the subtlety and elegance of the designs moved on as well
trans-continental ocean liners were replaced by airplanes for travel, and luxury sedans got replaced by skype (or any other video chat lol) for conducting business meetings... considering the coolest "car" now is something like a maybach GLS it's all about making the device itself now the big attraction

Toyota lets you do that, drivers can save it for later as well. Apparently once the EV mode is depleted, the vehicle will revert to hybrid and power will decrease. (Not sure 100%)

Yeah the battery was totally dead when I picked it up today and while I was driving it around.

Now you guys see why I loved mine so much. In EV mode it will switch over to hybrid mode if you reach 85mph so from 0-84mph it’s full EV mode.

100% power is on tap whether you have 100% EV battery or 0% EV battery. Just push HV mode button. However when you try to reserve your EV mode it will use a little EV range down to 80%. But you can get some of that EV range back by coasting and/or braking

So remember how I was saying we might buy out the Pacifica and keep it? My wife is sitting in traffic in the loaner Prius on her way to take my daughter to one of her after school things...she just texted me this:
I might need a new car. This traffic jam assist is pretty cool.

Your van doesn't have it?!?
That's one thing I really like on the D4s, the all speed cruise just lets me totally zone out in traffic since it just stops and resumes moving on its own.
Im surprised newer stuff doesn't all have it, it's more useful than lane centering IMO.

It has all speed dynamic cruise control but it doesn’t have lane centering or any kind of self driving. Toyota traffic assist is level 2 autonomy that requires no intervention below 25MPH. Above 25 it’s lane centering with intervention like distronic.
