It was a truck version and the coolant bits like that were already stripped off as they reuse them with a replacement. It's also a variable system that can get stuck into full hot mode and rapidly overheat the engine, many junk plastic bits and LOTs of small hoses/fitting that are about 30% more in number than even something like my EA824 engine. The difference is that again, parts are far cheaper and there are full delete kits for the EA824 that makes everything metal and no more variable warm up control flap......all while making a hell of a lot more power and better mpg.

It's very very bad on the LS500, one of many reasons I never considered owning one. Just too much complexity, cost, effort, and general BS to just be left with a car that is outright inferior to competition and in many ways it's predecessor.

Lexus is not like that, book times are often a fight to match/not exceed.
LOL, thats what the service costs. Like I said, most people aren't like you, we have to pay dealers and mechanics to work on and service our cars so when you compare costs to maintain and service the cars...you gotta compare what it costs to pay other people to do that. Even comparing independent to independent the LS is much cheaper to service because the parts are much cheaper.

Keep moving the goalposts all you want but the facts are the facts.

Guess you just have a skill issue with parts cost since I use OEM parts on everything but the LSs and my stuff has cost me no significant difference in parts costs vs Lexus OE because you can't figure out what those are exactly. Labor times are also superior or evenly matchedfor more complex cars and there is no rust to fight and those are facts you can't dispute.
Now you're comparing aftermarket parts to Lexus OE, moving those goalposts. I use OEM parts unless an aftermarket part is better. OEM Mercedes parts cost more than OEM Lexus parts. They just do. The wipers on the damn S Class are $200 and they are a proprietary design that has no aftermarket equivalent. Just the wipers cost what a full 10K service costs for the LS. Just the particulate air filter for the interior is $200. Brake rotors are two piece vs one piece and one rotor costs more than all 4 rotors for the LS. Rust is not an issue on the LS and you know it.

Of course you have greater skill than I do. You're a mechanic LOL. Thats my point.

I'm done with this topic though as you constantly both move goalposts and try and insist you have more experience where you simply lack it relative to others.
Having owned and maintained as a consumer paying dealers and independent mechanics TWO LS460s and now an S560 and an S580 for similar timeframes (only 1/2 way through with the S580) I have a firm handle on the costs of maintaining these cars, sorry but you're wrong.

Just to put it even further into absurdity...it cost more to maintain my S560 for 50k miles as it cost to maintain both my 2015 and 2017 LS each to 50k miles combined.

🤯😲

I’m sorry but I would have some $20 Michelin wipers from Walmart on my Mercedes. 😆

More reason for me to not go back to Mercedes. 🫣 Lexota with its new plastic interior touches doesn’t sound bad after all.

They physically don’t fit, couldn’t use Walmart wipers if I wanted to lol.

Now, the wipers are heated and they have 150 washer nozzles along both edges…they’re very cool wipers but it’s an example of the difference

They replace the wipers every 10k miles as part of the services and I always tell them not to, for $200 I will run them until they streak vs replacing them preemptively!

Just pointing out for posterity I grabbed a fresh Bosch Monoblade for the SL for $45 at the dealer.

What is magic vision?

A bottle of windshield wiper fluid from @AMIRZA786 stash should keep things all nice and clean

Give it a google.

I actually just stopped using the MB washer fluid and used regular oil fluid. Works great!

Magic Vision is where the water squirts between two small parts of the wiper.

Effectively, you're never inconvenienced vision wise while window washing... there's no "spray". The cleaning occurs between those two parts.

Also will point out for posterity that my SL washers aren't anything special spray wise.

LS/LX/Yukon are better.

✍️📝 Noted

My cousin just bought a new E350…do you know if it has the same wipers found on the S class?

No, they might be an option but they aren’t standard.

I had a new E350 as a loaner a couple weeks ago and it was great. How does he like it?

Pretty sure they are only standard on the S Class and SL, I know they are optional on the GLS and GLE

She loves it so far!! She stated it’s not American lol. She’s coming from a CT5

She’s not fond of American brand vehicles.
