20 years here... I've used the "like" button... like a handful of times.
I'm going to "Like" everyone's post now. Skew the data!

Edit: I cant like my own post. There's a user that comes to mind that will disappointed with that!

I've smashed the hell out of the like button for a few years, ya'll see my profile.

I don't abuse it but if I feel someone contributed something meaningful, BAM!

Key word, meaningful. Lol

Oh so you guys will get a kick out of this.....I actually forgot to do something last night among running around taking care of various other small tasks.

Around 10:30pm yesterday my wife left to the airport to pick up some of her friends at the airport so I moved two cars off the driveway when she left with one of the A8s. When she returned I moved the Volvo back up to its spot but I was asked a question so went back inside the house. Funny part was as I went to the street to move the Volvo I started the Jetta to allow it to warm up for a minute before returning to it and moving up as well.

So the Jetta ended up "warming up" till 12:30pm today lol! Wasted just under 1/8th tank

Worst part is I was thinking "I swear I missed something I still needed to do" but I had already done the other pre-winter storm stuff and re-locked the generator enclosure after checking its valve lash etc so I just went to sleep.

Guess I'm truly an old man now lol!

Ooooff. I mentioned my own story here before. On 4th of July, I moved the X5 around 11:30am for a parking spot and went back to hanging out only to find out next day around the same time it was still running. I'm still mad the car would let me walk away with the keys without any notification that I'm walking away with them. All my other cars do.

On some other forums, they don't have Like button but they have Appreciate button.

Should we like you post? Maybe CL needs a heart button like fb so we could use in this case. Lol. No, it's not you getting old, brother. It's "something" else.

Yeah lol!

I guess on the bright side the Jetta has validated its reliability again, 24ish hours idling for a 330k mile 25 year old car is pretty good I would say lol!

in my lexus manual it says don't idle for more than 20 min or risk damaging the catalytic converters, have you seen any evidence to back this up? or does lexus realize the average LS 400 customer is likely to drive so slow it'll never get the italian tune up needed to keep everything nice and clear of deposits lol... your cars must have some of the cleanest cats around!

Idle is generally very bad, not as much for a port injected, iron liner, NA engine but it will still not do any favors for the oil life, rings, valvetrain, or cats no.

And yes a good full power blast really does help keep rings and cats happy. Lexus/Toyota also has a really bad startup cycle IMO in terms of DUMPING fuel at higher engine rpm to light off/warm up. Sure they don't have SAI but dear god they run rich for a long time because of it.

The cats on the W12s are certainly minty fresh, none of them have any startup smell at all haha! The LS460 if not driven hard for a while sometimes has a hint of fuel scent when started as does the 3UR car, the truck sprays raw fuel on start.....

The Jetta being an injection pump diesel doesn't really care about idling. It will happily idle for about 8 days before it runs out of fuel

EDIT: funny enough I took one of the D4 W12s today to get it some exercise while the roads are dry before the storm
