Yeah, but

Not everyone is ready for the full plunge into the ev world.
Ice works for me and maybe a hybrid. 😃

that’s because you don’t like change, but what does being ‘ready’ mean?

Dragging around a bunch of extra expensive, heavy batteries that won't outlive a gas engine all the time that are hardly ever needed to go longer distances isn't any better.

The same thing was said about non plug in hybrids in the beginning and they have worked out just fine. Plug ins make hybrids even better. Fixes all the negatives of EVs for normal passenger cars.

I will have to drive one of these. Full electric Range Rover is awesome I’m sure but it will be max 300 miles of range
For your case where you won't own a car you like out of warranty then pretty much any car is a good option for you as long as its within your budget lol. You can get a crazy deal on a Dodge hornet if you're interested lol.

I agree with you about taking your nice car on long road trips vs a rental. However, majority of consumers will be renting a similar vehicle to the one they own. In other words, majority of consumers vehicles are appliances, and a rental would give them the same satisfaction as driving their own vehicle.

But, if someone does mostly local driving it might work.
And, gas for trips for people who need it. 🫸🫷

Scenario, typical in town Mon-Fri work/home commute but let’s say you have kids who are in activities that takes them out of town on weekends or you have other obligations that require you to travel on weekends. EV still the best option or would a PHEV be a better option? 3rd option: buy an EV and a gas vehicle?

once you drive phevs, you understand that bevs are only real option.

unless you live in true sticks.

A couple years ago Volvo was trying to sell me on the idea of a battery capable of powering the vehicle for 30 miles or so before the gasoline engine was required. Sounded like a novelty to me, best sold to those seeking an EV absent the range inconvenience of same.

Seriously bro, we really don't care about your fuel range . I don't mean that as an insult, I apologize if it sounds that way. If I really cared about range, I would own a Prius. And I would never own a Prius unless I had no options. HEV and PHEV are boring too me. They drive 'ok', and ok is just not good enough. That's just me. If other people don't care, I'm fine with their choices

Nice car!

For most people fuel range is not a problem, unless you live in Australia I guess. Current 300+ miles BEVs are already good, but of course there is not as much choice as with petrol vehicles. Like if you like BMWs, and you hate iX minivan design, it would be hard choice not to get X7.

BTW I do love your X7, but most people couldn't afford one

the phev system was a good compromise before range got better on ev's. now it's just expensive, complicated, and pointless.

really nice vehicle and a heck of an upgrade.
only downside is gas costs but other than that, great move.
