Default V8s returning thread-- Ram received 10,000 orders in the first 24 hours...

I just read that Ram has already taken over 10,000 orders for the Hemi for 2026... in the 24 hours since they've been available to order. Wow.

I'm glad the Hurricane engine is potent but I would choose the V8 and ax the hybrid equipment via aftermarket or a tune or whatever (if possible).

I figure this can be a thread on V8s in general, since they're coming back. I don't think the hybrid stuff will remain mandatory after a model year or so of returned V8 power. They'll push it, though.

Definitely a bit of pent-up demand, but we'll have to wait a bit to see how it pans out. A certain other truck garnered 522,764 pre-orders in the first 90 days following its announcement, and 6 years later has sold a total of just over 46,000 units.

Ram sold 51,848 of the 1500s in the second quarter, so 10k is approximately 2.5 weeks' worth. If the demand is sustained, that will be quite significant. I'm guessing it won't, and after this initial spike will settle into a slow, steady volume like the Coyote in the F150.

We shall see. I feel like Mopar guys are a little more fiercely loyal to V8s than Ford guys. They didn't rush back the V8 mid-year for nothin'!

And yes the CT turned out to be a flop, lol. This won't be, however.

Wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the preorders are fleet sales.

The V8 is less powerful (by a lot) than the inline turbo 6 and the efficiency is a wash between the two.

If the 3rd gen Tundra was more reliable and had better quality, there would be one in my driveway. I solely like my V8 Tundra because it’s bulletproof but performance wise, it does nothing better than the TT V6 imo.

Right but the 5.7UR sounds and feels a million times better, is bulletproof as you point out, and isn't a slouch by any stretch. People who want the V8 back in the Ram literally don't care that it's 125hp less powerful than the HO Hurricane. That shows how much America likes their V8s.

And yes, you're right... gas mileage is about the same. A V8 Ram is still quite quick I might add, but not insane like the HO Hurricane. I laughed at this video.

Some folks just prefer V8s and the Hemi is still very meaningful to Mopar fans!

Hopefully they will bring back V8 Charger and Challenger.

AMG also announced that they are bringing back V8 to C63.

V8 Charger/Challenger will be back. They can be stubborn again and wait until sales deteriorate to bring it back, but hopefully they've wisened up.

MB is confirmed to be bringing it back also. Not just for that one model either.

Like you say, it's just something a LOT of Mopar fans have to have.

Not a fan of the V6 TT sound especially the fake engine noise pumped in the speakers. However I used to have an aftermarket muffler on my 1st Tundra for over 100k miles and while it did sound good, it eventually got old especially while towing when you’re pulling hills.

I have a 1,000 mile tow track event coming up. My V8 is going to be screaming pulling the hills or I can let the hill drag me down until the top. If multiple back to back hills, sometimes I make a run for it going downhill that way I won’t have to lay in the throttle on the following hill. I’ve towed the same load with the Tundra TT V6 on same route. TT V6 towed with less effort, uphill/downhill. Doesn’t matter. Maintaining speed climbing hills so smooth.

If a current gen Sequoia pops up at your local Carmax, reserve a 24hr test drive and throw your boat on the hitch and take it for a spin. Like to know your thoughts. I would be surprised if you say your LX or even your Yukon tows it just as good. There’s no strings attached on the 24hr test drive. Copy of license and insurance only paperwork involved. 150 mile limit.

Found a V6 TT Sequoia in Tennessee

Far as sound with the Ram, sure the hurricane engine isn’t the most pleasant sound but I bet it doesn’t have the Hemi tick. If I were a Ram guy, I would buy the hurricane engine over the Hemi. I don’t have high expectations for either especially with the hurricane being the NKOTB.

I think so as well.

Oh I'm sure it tows better than the LX, it has more torque. The Yukon I wouldn't be so sure about. The hybrid drivetrain is kind of clunky versus just raw V8 power. The 6.2 is a beast.

I think with SUVs it's not necessarily about needing a huge weight, unlike a lot of people with actual pickup trucks. I think most people with SUVs tow boats like mine which any capable SUV should be able to handle fine. Not close to the limit, but not light either. I'd say the boat is 4-5klbs including the trailer with gear and fuel, etc etc. The LX tows it quite well, upshifts early like it's towing nothing on regular non-hilly surfaces. Don't forget the 5.7 makes massive NA torque available at 2200RPM, 90% of it at least. That's why it's fun to drag the boat around in second gear start, too.

The Yukon I'm not gonna mess with towing, for now. LX is the tow pig.

At this point they just need to offer 0%/120 month financing and claim the half ton sales crown.

The Sequoia has +120 torque than your Yukon, +180 torque than your Yukon. I towed my car hauler empty once with our LX 570 and I couldn’t imagine it being loaded. I need to weigh my load. I know my trailer weighs more than my car.

Towed my car on U-Haul with LX and it towed it just fine. Was able to run 80mph with little effort.

Like I said, I don't go near max capacity so it doesn't really matter to me. I bet the Yukon tows like a beast regardless, if the LX does (remember, not maxed). This is where HD pickups enter the chat.

My Tundra makes 401 torque at 3,600 RPM same as your LX.

Your Yukon makes 460 torque at 4,100 RPM.

Sequoia makes 583 torque at 2,400 RPM

V6 TT makes 479 torque at 2,400 RPM

V6 TT hybrid makes 583 torque at 2,400 RPM

pulling your boat out of the water may not take much effort especially if you’re starting in 2nd gear. Pulling your boat at 65-75mph climbing hills is a different story. You’re definitely will be getting the V8 sound you desire.

My Tundra has 4.30 gears which plays a huge part whereas the new Tundra only has a 3.31 gears but that’s where turbos closes the gap.

I was looking for something else and stumbled upon this below.

I've towed it on the hilly freeway, it handled it fine.
