completely agree.

So I took all the pets to the vet for boarding and used the beater Enclave... (5 pets total, not fun)

It would get smoked by these more powerful turbo 4s but 99% of the rest of the time when you're just driving, the GM 3.6L V6 engine is quite pleasant and refined.
Nice. An engine that is a nice smooth V6 and slick shifting automatic. That is how a Buick should be

Do you guys seriously think V6s are smooth? Honestly asking as I have never felt one in any brand, or car that I would consider a smooth engine. Decent and unobtrusive with some bordering on smooth like the 2GR and 1MZ but never actually smooth.....

Can't speak for the first-generation GM 3.6L V6, but the second-generation 3.6L was certainly smooth enough....at least by my standards.

Smoother than a 4 cyl.

I actually find transverse V6s smoother than longitudinal V6s.

One reason for that (although not the only one) is that transverse-mounted drivetrains are more likely to be mounted on front sub-frames, which themselves help absorb NVH.

I don't disagree with either point but it's still not "smooth" in my experience except maybe a very small handful. V8s are where it starts to get smooth IMO and only the nicer ones

Both gens of the V6 were solid IMO. The Impala was one of my preferred rental cars for years because, among other things, it had a solid and refined drivetrain (at least for the class). Driving one back to back with the absolutely terrible Malibu was certainly a wakeup call.

V6 RX 450H combined with the ECVT transmission seemed pretty smooth when we had it.

The 2014 total-redesign of the Impala put it not only light-years ahead of some previous Malibus, but also light-years ahead of the previous rental-grade Impala. I say some previous Malibus because, IMO, at least, the 7Gen Malibu was actually a VERY nice car (best Malibu since the 1968-72 versions), and Saturn sold a version of it called the Aura before the division folded.

I remember by first test-drive of the 2014 Impala (at the time, I was comparing it to some big Buicks).....and I was astounded at how much better it was than previous versions. It also took Consumer Reports and a number of other of other reviewers by surprise.

Back to the thread-topic Trailblazer, I might consider the next version if Chevy puts in some better soundproofing and gives it a 360-camera-option......although with GM, Ford, and some other brands, it is often wise to avoid first-year redesigns.

5. Kia Seltos/Hyundai Kona
6. Nissan Kicks
7. Mitsubishi EclipseCross
8. Toyota CorollaCross
9. BMW X1
10. MB GLA250

Why or why not?

It had the 3.0 Duratec V6. It was a fine enough engine for that car, no real complaints. That car fit the needs I had at my financial constraints at the time(I had just graduated college and had started my career less than a week earlier, and bought it to replace my dead LS400).

But I make a lot more money now than I did when I bought that car. I can be pickier about my powertrains.

If I'm correct, these look like they're all approx the same size class?

If you make a new thread with this list I will reply.🏆

My mother in law has one, it's meh. Laggy and has CVT drone as they all do, engine is just a constant annoying tone and doesn't react quickly off the line or at part throttle.

MPG is only 23 as well
