2026 Hyundai Palisade
It doesn't seem to be limited to Hyundai and Kia, though. Ford and Jeep dealership-service have also been ranking pretty low now for some time. My next-door-neighbor's Bronco Sport, for example, was part of that recall-campaign on the cracked fuel-injectors (which could be hazardous)...and the dealership has had them waiting on ordered parts for months. And there are many similar stories on other issues.
. They are selling so many vehicles now in the U.S. that it is difficult for some dealerships to keep up with the service and parts-load./

this is because of the recalls. The recalls are because of poor quality and poor mechanical design by Hyundai Motor Corp. The dealers have to perform these recalls that in the millions. Friend had her engine recalled and replaced, it sat at the dealership for 3 months before the new engine arrived. Of course there will be poor customer service. Hyundai needs to better quality
Respectfully, I disagree with your "poor quality" moniker. Outside of some underhood fires (which, in many cases, are not traced to the engines themselves, but to sub-contractor-suppled electronic panels) Hyundais and Kias are actually quite well-built......especially with Kia. And, even with the recalls, it has only affected a small number of vehicles.
My brother, for example, has had four new Kias in his life, put about 70-80,000 miles on each of them, and has had very few repairs or bills with them outside of normal service/maintenance. Of course, like I said earlier, he is fortunate to have a good dealership with an excellent Service-Manager, and good maintenance can prevent many repair-issues.
brothers Palisade had a recall on the power seat button that could dislodge and cause a spark. Tow hitch that could light a fire . And a recall on the headrests that don’t smell good. Great design the palisade is but it has poor quality. New palisade looks good, but odds are the quality issues won’t improve
This new Palisade looks great. But too bad there is no more V6

How many Hyundai/Kia dealers are around you to drive to and get parts? The Kia dealers I dealt with when we had ours were fine. People I know here with Hyundais also have no complaints. No different than any other mainstream dealership.
So like I said it’s not unique to Hyundai.

I've never been in one that I thought sucked. No different than a Toyota dealer or whatever. Dealers are independently owned businesses, sounds like you just have crappy ones where you are.
I would imagine your disdain for the brand probably colors your perceptions also.

No arguments there. Yes, the ones in the D.C. area are generally pretty good...especially Don Beyer Kia in Falls Church. There are a lot of horror-stories, though, on the Kia/Hyundai forums, which, of course, cover the entire U.S. and the world.
The disdain came from interacting with the product and dealerships, at first I was very favorable due to how easy they are to work on. Then I discovered the systemic issues and cheap engineering and the dealers just sealed it for me.
Go try the parts department or perhaps drive to an area more representative of the majority of the country vs the DC bubble. They are hyper pushy and aggressive in sales, constantly deny warranty (I have had to help people prove they need to honor the 10 year/100k) and act like the Mercedes parts department for no reason.

I know lots of people with Hyundais and none of them have ever had any issues with warranty replacements. You know what company was the toughest to deal with for me getting warranty work done? Lexus.

That 2017 Sonata that I flipped is doing great under the new owner because they actually listened to the owners manual. Again, cars are fine for what they are but I just hate the parts cost and dealer stupidity. They also don't make anything I am interested in but that's nothing to do with the brand problem wise, I just buy what does fit what I want.
