I’m okay with a smaller vehicle. I haven’t been to the back of my LS460 enough times to appreciate the size I guess. But the car has a big *** trunk and I’m sure some of that length goes to the trunk. I just need to fit two car seats and rear door and put them in. And I also only need to use it occasionally because we have the RX as the family vehicle. I’ve used the LC500 with one car seat(booster) and it’s fine. It just I can’t fit two and getting them in and out is a PITA due to the lack of doors. But like I said, I use it when I have no choice or just feel like driving the LC500.

I will take a look at the 540 while I’m there just to make sure the size of the 3series and the 4 series is what I can live it. With 15MPG on the LS460(AWD) and premium fuel, I’m ready to drive a Corolla at this point! So this is why the M340 was so appealing.
No like the 3 is SMALL inside vs an LS is what we mean, as in where you seat/drive feels claustrophobic in comparison at first.

I went from a LS to a Civic. As long as it works for you, you will enjoy the performance of the B58. Make sure you take your car seats with you for test fitting.

Team B58 welcomes you

You didn't mention that you had to fit two car seats in the back. Are any of them rear facing? I think these cars maybe a bit tight, depending on your height. If they're both booster seats you'll be fine, I mean I can even fit a booster seat in the back of my old 911.

Just make sure you drive it extensively and that you're happy with the change. The length has a huge impact on how the car feels and drives, the two cars just couldn't be more different.

My kids are 6 and 2. The 2yr old has a rear facing for probably another year. My 6 yr old is on a full back booster. All my family trips have been accommodated by the RX. Very seldomly I need to pick up both of them in the LS. If I do, the 6yr old is behind me and my 2yr old is on the passenger side with her rear facing. I guess I now start to appreciate the LS for the fact that with the rear facing car seat in the back, I never have to touch the front passenger seat.
I will probably like the 540i more but have to check them all out.

I had two rear facing car seats in my E90 3 series with no problems back in times, then two full booster seats in another E90. OP should be totally fine with G20

RX actually has a great second row for car seats...

If I known this was possible I would’ve gotten a LC years ago.

Test fit with your car seats. We test fitted car seats and strollers in the LX and that’s what sold us to move on from the RX.

Depending on how tall he/she is.

We sold our RX hybrid for a LX for this reason. Looking back we maaaybe could’ve made it work but the cargo area definitely would’ve been tight. Especially since my wife used to haul around a bob stroller. We eventually picked up a couple smaller strollers.

I’m still trying to understand your post. You sold the RX for the LX because it has better second row than the LX??
I’ve test driven LX a couple times and didn’t think we would benefit from having car seats more than our RX. So I bought an LC500 instead lol.

I had an RX loaner when my kids were little and in rear facing car seats and they fit great in it, and I'm 6' tall...

Yes especially width wise in the event one of us rode in the backseat with the kids in their car seats which happened quite a bit.

Unfortunately we will find a “reason” to get another vehicle

While I don't have the M340 (I have the lesser 330i xdrive), I can only say great things about it - all wheel drive hookup is sensational, suspension is probably best in class, and the transmission phenomenal, sharp, quick, and smooth shifts. Plenty of space in the back. Only complaint is that steering is really numb, and I've heard even more so on the M340i. If I didn't have an IS500 as well, I'd probably have an M340i or M3.

So would you trade your IS500 for a M340i?

I love both the 330 and M340, but found the steering in the latter to have a nicer feel/weight.
The whole lineup is amazing, M3 included.
