If there was one BMW i'd get, it would be the one you're getting.

To be fair, my issues have been minor overall. We had the power trunk fail on the 330i and had a couple of different rattles fixed in our X3. It's not like either car left us unable to drive it! However, the rattles in the X3 were so bad that I didn't want to drive it.

My 328 has been just as reliable, if not more so, than my IS250 was. 92K miles so far. German cars being unreliable is an outdated concept.

I mean, some still are.

But a B58 powered BMW? Going to be a lot more reliable than your father's bimmer.

Thanks for the inputs all.
The LS460 is not that big. Mine isn’t the LWB(long wheel base). It’s not that much bigger than a GS. I’m thinking of the M340 rather than the 540 because I think the 540 is a little too big. The 3 series has gotten bigger and it’s really close to the size of a GS.
While I was looking, I stumbled across a 4 door M440. I thought all the 3 series are sedan and 4 series are coupe. But I guess they have a grand coupe that has 4 doors. I do like the front(grill) of the 4 series more. I like big *** grill lol. But the M340 offers more MPG? One of the reason that attracts me to the M340. I will visit a bmw dealer and check out the m340 vs m440.

There’s always that IS500 on the back of my mind. However, coming from 2020 GSF that I traded for my current ‘24 LC500, IS500 might be a little repetitive. I think I need to explore the German’s auto landscape.

Sounds like you have given it good consideration. If the smaller size (over a foot shorter in length but almost the same interior legroom as the 2016 LS) won't be an issue, I highly recommend the M340/M440 Grand Coupe models. I like the 3 better but just a styling preference, they both drive amazing and should serve you well.

The m440i gran coupe also has a liftback instead of a regular trunk.

The LS460 is pretty big, the SWB car is 200 inches long which is the same length as my minivan. A 3 series BMW is nearly 2 feet shorter. It’s going to be a big change.

I was recently shopping for a 4 Series Grand Coupe and found that inventories around me of the 430 and 440 were low. The CA I was working with said that BMW had cut back production on both of these and increased production of the i4 which shares the same platform. I've bought a couple of cars from him, and he doesn't BS too much.

All cars have gotten a lot bigger, including the 3. The G20 is actually only about 14.5 inches shorter than the SWB LS460. Still will be a very noticeable difference, but if they're explicitly looking for something a bit smaller it might work out ok. Definitely not like comparing the LS460 to its contemporary E90 3-series.

The G30 5 series is only about 4.5 inches shorter than the LS460, and the LWB 5-series (not available in the US) is a half inch longer than the LS.

14.5 inches is a lot, like I said thats going to be a big change. It sounds like a little, but in a car its a big difference.

The LS460 is bigger than all of those.....even in SWB

The other difference is the feel/how the car encases you, my LS is very "relaxed" and open feeling while my technically larger Audis feel much smaller. Controls and interior is more form fit and while I vastly prefer this it is a serious feel change. Smaller cars like a 3 are a MAJOR difference, my S4 is smaller than all the newer stuff but as an example it essentially has you in contact with everything vs a same size exterior ES.

Yeah the 5 series certainly feels smaller inside than an LS, especially in regards to rear legroom. There just isn't a ton of rear legroom in this thing, and a 3 series is going to be tighter.

He is telling the truth. I am a Sales Manager at a Bmw store and they have gone to like 90% ev 10% 430-440gc mix. Bmw would say the 430 and 440 didnt sell well but truth is it had a horrible lease program and just didnt make sense. Where the i4s have tons of incentives and low money factors.

Please pardon my ignorance. I don’t know much about BMW. I know a lot about Lexus(lol) but not much about anything other vehicle brand.
I’m okay with a smaller vehicle. I haven’t been to the back of my LS460 enough times to appreciate the size I guess. But the car has a big *** trunk and I’m sure some of that length goes to the trunk. I just need to fit two car seats and rear door and put them in. And I also only need to use it occasionally because we have the RX as the family vehicle. I’ve used the LC500 with one car seat(booster) and it’s fine. It just I can’t fit two and getting them in and out is a PITA due to the lack of doors. But like I said, I use it when I have no choice or just feel like driving the LC500.

I will take a look at the 540 while I’m there just to make sure the size of the 3series and the 4 series is what I can live it. With 15MPG on the LS460(AWD) and premium fuel, I’m ready to drive a Corolla at this point! So this is why the M340 was so appealing.
