can't say i really understand the concept or benefit. if they're one lane, what happens if you break down?
I have to assume that the incidence of new-ish Teslas simply stopping dead with less than a mile's worth of warning is pretty low. Any car where the software identifies a potential issue could simply be swapped out at the next stop.
i read that it's really only a taxi service right now between 2 points??
5 points currently. 3 within the Las Vegas Convention Center--SE end, center, NW end--along with Resorts World and Westgate. Travel within the 3 LVCC stops is free, going to/from the other two has a per-ride or daily charge.
Those entrances don't have flood gates. I know, no rain.
After Sandy, they installed these giant flood gates here so every time I see a tunnel I look for them
Not no rain. Very infrequent but sometimes torrential rain. you can see as much as 12-18" of water flowing on the streets at times, but highly localized. So since there are no hurricanes the openings don't have to be hermetically sealed, you'd just need to be able to prevent a shallow river from being able to flow in freely.
It does look like the ground-level entrances have flood doors that slide down from above:
Doesn't look from the picture that they cover the entire entrance (unless there's a second one that comes up), but again they probably don't need to. I believe all three LVCC stations are fully underground. And there is drainage under the road bed that is served by pumps to remove any water that does get in. That said, with the surface entrances looking to be below-grade, there's always a chance that they could have a VERY unlucky day....
