DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 3, 2025 – The Ford Motor Company strategy of offering customers a variety of powertrains and vehicle types helped Ford grow retail sales 6% in 2024, double the estimated rate of the broader industry. Fourth quarter retail sales growth was even stronger at 17%, led by a 25% retail gain in F-Series.

The Ford F-Series best illustrates the company’s Freedom of Choice strategy with gas, diesel, hybrid and electric models. All of these F-Series versions saw year-over-year sales growth in the final month of 2024. No other truck manufacturer in the industry offers customers this choice of powertrains.Total F-Series Q4 sales were up 21% to end the year as America’s best-selling truck for the 48th straight year.

Ford total Q4 sales increased 9% compared to a full-year sales gain of 4%, with a total of 2,078,832 vehicles sold. Ford outpaced the total industry – as well as the retail – with a total estimated industry sales increase of 2% for 2024, expanding its market share.

Entering 2025, Ford bolstered its vehicle inventory to help offset the impact of expected supply reductions during plant changeovers for key product launches, including the new Expedition, Navigator and Bronco. The move reflects Ford’s strategy to keep its product lineup among the freshest in the industry for customers and dealers.

Ford’s Electrified Vehicles Set New Records

Customers favored Ford’s electrified vehicles in 2024, driving growth and setting record sales for the year. With 285,291 electrified vehicles sold (HEV, PHEV and electric), sales were up 38% in 2024 over a year ago, exceeding the sales of GM and Stellantis.

https://www.ford.com/electric/, a program which includes a complimentary home charger with standard installation at no extra charge and access to a 24/7 Ford advisor for electric vehicle support, helped boost Ford electric vehicle sales in Q4 to a new best-ever electric vehicle sales record with 30,176 electric vehicles sold. With the success of the program, Ford is extending the Ford Power Promise complimentary home charger and standard installation into the new year to build on the momentum of record sales growth. In 2024, each of Ford’s electric vehicles set new sales records, with Mustang Mach-E sales totaling 51,745 – up 27%; F-150 Lightning sales totaling 33,510 – up 39% and E-Transit sales of 12,610 – up 64%. For the quarter, Mustang Mach-E posted its best-ever quarterly sales result with 16,119 vehicles sold, making it America’s best-selling electric SUV behind only Tesla’s Model Y in 2024.

Hybrid powertrains increased Ford’s total electrified vehicles on record 2024 sales of 187,426 hybrid vehicles – up 40% over 2023. Hybrid strength came from a record surge in hybrid truck sales, with F-150 hybrid finishing the year as America’s best-selling hybrid truck on sales of 73,845 trucks – up 47%. Second only to the F-150, Maverick hybrid established a new sales record on sales of 68,752 – up 31%.

KIA AMERICA POSTS ALL-TIME BEST ANNUAL SALES FOR THE 2ND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

01/03/25 ID: 22986
  • All-time annual sales record for six Kia models pushes total U.S. volume to 796,488 vehicles
  • Company records seven consecutive years of growth in retail sales
  • Electric vehicle sales up 74-percent year-over-year; SUV and utility lineup sales up 8-percent year-over-year
IRVINE, Calif., January 2, 2025 – Kia America achieved a total of 73,303 units sold in December, setting a record for the month as well as the highest annual sales figure in company history. Kia’s total volume in 2024 reached 796,488 units, marking the second time in as many years the brand finished with best-ever annual sales. This back-to-back record-setting performance was powered by a significant increase in retail sales, excluding fleet, a trend that Kia has maintained for the past seven consecutive years.

In 2024, six Kia models set all-time annual sales records: EV9 (+1,869-percent); Sportage (+15%); Carnival (+14-percent); Forte/K4 (+13-percent); EV6 (+6-percent); and Telluride (+4-percent). December also saw the Telluride reach its highest monthly sales total for the second consecutive month since the continuously popular three-row SUV hit the market in 2019.

Sales of Kia’s EVs increased 74-percent, accounting 7-percent of the 2024 total sales. Moreover, sales of Kia’s rugged and capable SUVs accounted for 76-percent of the brand’s total annual sales, reflecting 8-percent growth compared to the previous year.

"Achieving back-to-back annual sales records along with surpassing consumer sales records for seven consecutive years is a validation that our strategy is working to further elevate the Kia brand and the potential for sustained growth in the US market,” said Seungkyu (Sean) Yoon, president and CEO, Kia North America and Kia America. “Kia has solidified its leadership position within the EV market thanks, in part, to the successful launch of our flagship EV9 SUV and the introduction of Carnival hybrid powertrain, actively responding to the evolving demands of the market. Kia will leverage our consumer-centric, world-class product offerings and maintain this upward, positive momentum.”

In addition to the monthly sales performance, Kia America announced several initiatives, including:
  • The official launch of the all-new 2025 Kia K4 compact sedan.
  • The 2025 Telluride SUV has been named one of Car and Driver’s 2025 10Best Trucks and SUVs, marking the sixth year in a row the ruggedly sophisticated three-row SUV has earned the prestigious title. This achievement highlights the Telluride’s status as one of a few vehicles to be named a Car and Driver 10Best each year it’s been on sale.
  • The Kia Telluride once again recognized as a segment leader by the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. ALG Residual Value Awards, this time claiming the top spot in the Midsize SUVs with 3-row seating category for the fourth consecutive year. This accolade highlights Telluride’s enduring value, brand appeal, and competitive edge, adding to its remarkable track record of industry recognition.
  • Kia’s all-electric, 3-row EV9 flagship SUV took home the prestigious “2024-2025 Electric SUV of Texas” award as awarded by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) at the annual 2024 TAWA “Truck Rodeo”.
  • Two of Kia America’s most popular SUVs – the all-electric, three-row EV9 and the Sorento – named among the “2025 Best Vehicles for Hispanics” by the Hispanic Motor Press. The Kia EV9 took home “Best EV of the Year,” while the Kia Sorento and Kia Sorento Hybrid won “Best SUV of the Year.”

General Motors had a strong 2024, growing U.S. sales and market share with a redesigned portfolio of both electric and gas-powered vehicles.

For the year, GM expanded overall sales by 4%, to 2.7 million vehicles, our highest total since 2019. GM estimates its 2024 market share at 16.5. We finished the year with inventory of about 54 days, meeting our target. All of our brands – Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac – posted strong sales gains.

For the fourth quarter, sales were up 21% from the year-earlier period. Electric vehicle sales jumped 50% for the year and 125% for the quarter, roughly doubling our market share over the course of the year. GM was the #2 seller of EVs in the U.S. across the second half of 2024. We were the leading seller of full-sized pickups for the fifth straight year – with the highest annual sales since 2007. And we were the top seller of full-size sport utility vehicles for an astonishing 50th straight year.

“It was a great year for us across our product lines,” said Rory Harvey, GM executive VP and president of global markets. “How did we do it? By investing to have the best portfolio in the industry. We have something for everyone, no matter what they like to drive."

Current Time 0:00
/
Duration 2:38 In EVs, sales accelerated throughout the year, with Q4 sales of 42,000 units, up 10,000 from the 3rd quarter level, and nearly twice the second quarter total.

Overall, our average Q4 transaction price reached nearly $53,000, well above the industry average, while incentive spending per vehicle continues to decline.

All four of our major brands grew in 2024. At Chevrolet, sales were up 1.5%, to the highest level since 2019. Equinox EV was a major driver, with Q4 unit sales up 85% from Q3. For the full year, Trax sales were up 84%, to lead the small SUV segment. Fourth quarter sales at Chevrolet increased 17%.

Cadillac had its best full-year and quarterly sales since 2016, spurred by strong demand for both Escalade – the #1 large luxury SUV for the 11th consecutive year – and LYRIQ, now the best-selling electric mid-size luxury SUV. Meanwhile, deliveries of two new electric SUVs – the three-row VISTIQ and the smaller OPTIQ – begin in Q1. For the quarter, sales were up 35%.

Meanwhile, GMC had its best year ever in 2024, with total sales up 9%, aided by a 33% spike in Q4 sales. Sierra and Canyon both had their best years in history. It was a record year for the Denali sub-brand, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. And Buick sales improved 10%, to the highest total since 2021. The Envista saw sales jump 57% in the fourth quarter.
