2025 GX 550 Announced
not my jetta, but yes, i'm sure. vw/audi have used a 2.0L 4 cyl turbo forever.
come around to what? i haven't had issues with 4 cylinder engines. and if anyone's driven a mercedes e-class with the 4 cyl, most will say is absolutely fine.
why am i not surprised we're complete opposite on this.
i have never had any interest in an opening sun roof that just makes loads of horrible wind noise and often really uncomfortable wind buffeting..
because it would be hugely expensive to offer? who else offers that?

Absolute deal breaker for us.

We prefer a pano roof. Our LX had a moonroof. Wife and kids love the pano roof that opens on the RAV4 prime a lot better. Sometimes we will open the shade on the pano roof but keep the glass closed. On the GX550 you don’t have the option to open the pano roof. TX550+ doesn’t have a moonroof let alone a pano roof.

Even on roadtrips in the RAV4 prime with the radio on volume 6-8 you cannnot hear the 4 cylinder engine noise. Last roadtrip in it, I actually listened for it and it wasn’t noticeable at all.
I will tilt the back open even on my truck to let a little fresh air in.

I don't have any interest, either. Love our 200 series though. V8.
The Denali blows it away in every way imaginable and it's not even a competitor, an Escalade is which is on an even higher level.
LX has off road chops, that's it. No V8, no power running boards (this screams luxury like power steering wheels do) garbage ttV6 motor recalled, lost its AHC armor underneath for fuel economy, teeny sunroof, feels cramped inside compared to 200 and just in general. Great seats though.

Don’t understand how the Sequoia has a pano roof but the LX 600 doesn’t.
My friend went from an Escalade to a LX 570 and they don’t miss the Escalade at all.
It didn't used to always be this way, Lexus needed to follow the competition to keep the LX in that stratosphere.
My LX does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, that's quick enough. They can keep that 3.4 haha. It's the only V8 in my stable that literally grumbles and huffs (in a good way) the more you dig into the gas. The other V8 cars just all rev when you boot them. LX grumbles as well as revs under hard throttle.
I haven’t driven a GX550 but I sat inside one and it felt a little cramped inside. The interior space is doable but guess I was expecting little more. Totally disappointed in the jump seat style 3rd row. Despite what I consider are shortcomings, it’s a contender for our next vehicle alone with a TX 550+ when it receives a pano roof option. Would like to see how reliable the 3.4L is long term.

Personally, I'd love a GX 550, but mostly love it for how it looks and doubt I would ever go offroad to the point where my current X3 M40i couldn't make it. With that said, I really love how the new Land Cruiser looks as well. These boxy SUVs seem to tick my boxes when it comes to aesthetics.
