The other day we were in San Diego and gas at the Shell station near the airport was just shy of $7 a gallon. Ridiculous. We bought gas about 3 miles away at a Chevron for $4.79 a gallon, which is about the same as home (Seattle).

Right now regular is $3.75 at my local Costco in San Jose. Of course there is a large line you have to deal with
Somehow I've never got gas from 76. Even if gas were high, I wouldn't rent an EV on trips.
I wouldn’t rent an EV either.

Prices are always much higher in California. Beating a dead horse.
[QUOTE=geko29;11777097]The total prices are of course crazy high, but it's been at least 15 years since I've seen that small an incremental price (30 cents) between regular and premium.[/QUOTE
I wonder why such a higher price? Just to have the fuel pumped for you.

They should have if they can’t afford the fuel bills while in Beverly Hills. Sit and charging isn’t much fun

That is a nice design.

If they’re not bringing back the 5.7 V8 at least make the 5.0 V8 an option that they put in the LC IS and RC F.
I’ve rented an EV while on vacation and it wasn’t bad for me.
I’m sure the price of gas was a little shocking considering it’s $2.60/gallon back in Texas. I don’t think they would consider renting an EV like you said due to sitting while charging.
Yes I’ve heard of the bed bounce. Can’t say if I’ve experienced it or not. I have noticed over the years my Tundras seem to ride little more smooth when I have a load in the bed.

My brother has the 2024 base rwd Model Y with the with the lithium iron battery pack that you are recommended to charge to 100 percent, he's getting well over 300 miles on a charge, more than my LR which has a bigger battery. The new Model 3, excluding the performance, are also getting well over 300 miles. And next year the updated Model Y is coming out that will even get longer range.
If you are visiting California, there's really no reason not to rent an EV, unless bias is getting in the way, or you just want to get something like a Mustang GT, charger or Black Wing for fun. Most of the hotels here have lots of Level 2 chargers, and Tesla superchargers are ample in supply. Anyway, I take our Model Y anywhere we travel in California, and if we have to drive more than 500 miles, we just fly and take Uber

Our EV rental in Hawaii was a disaster due to a lack of charging infrastructure. I’d have no problem renting one in California. As I said further up in the thread, our hotel down there was valet parking only. $35 a day, but if you paid just $3 more per day and had an EV, they’d charge it for you. That’s a heck of a good deal - a full charge for just $3.

Which reminds me, we may be going to Hawaii next year. Note to self... rent a gas car 🤣
In regards to EVs I will say that I was glad I did not have the i7 when I was in NJ dealing with my MIL's surgery. We had to drive 55 miles between my SILs house where we were staying and the hospital which was near my MIL's house. We had both cars and both went at different times because our kids were with my SIL and their cousins. Lots of driving back and forth, no Level 2 charger anywhere and I was happy I did not have to try and find charging...
Not a typical use case but its one of those "stress situations" that do happen in life and where an ICE vehicle is still superior to an EV.
My BIL is getting a Tesla within the next year so once he does he will have a level 2 charger, if he had one and I could have charged at night I wouldn't have had an issue with the EV in this scenario.

Its a great armrest, huge improvement over the seat mounted armrests on the lower trim cars and that I had on my two gas Limiteds.

They're narrow and hard, they tend to make my arm go numb, you cant stretch your arms out the way you can on the console armrest
It's the only gas station in California that still has full service. Is that Santa Monica Blvd or Wilshire Blvd? Used to drive through that area all the time, brings back memories of lots of traffic I had to drive through
Interesting trivia. It usually wasn’t too full.
That 76 is actually off Burton IIRC right as the blocks of stores and restaurants start. But SMBLVD is right there, so is Wilshire. Both walking distance.

what is so special about 76?

That make sense. Are they adjustable on the past model?

On a vacation or away, I don’t want to have to worry about charging or finding a charger.

People forget some of the quality problems of the second Gen. the frames had to be replaced on some models years.

that was only charging a phev which has a tiny battery compared to a full ev.

Never been to Hawaii, this will be my first time. Not sure which island, I'll be planning it with my brother in law who has been there before
