Just... lol. The jokes write themselves.

To those of you who don’t get the joke, Mazda literally shrunk the stock photo size of the CX-70 on their site to try and make it seem as if the CX-70 is smaller than it actually is. Absolutely ridiculous

I think the Japanese brands are in a death spiral at this point tbh.

I really don’t see the issue with the two different names for the Mazda

LOL. Shrinking the picture of the CX-70 is just proves someone knows this product announcement is comical.

It’s the whole reveal of it being a new vehicle. Mazda is pretending this is not the same vehicle.

As someone who was looking forward to the CX-70, I have no idea who this is designed for. I mean, why not just buy the 90 and fold down the seat. At least you still have it in case it's needed.
It can't be that much less expensive either - everything else is the same.

And they haven’t released any dimensions to try and not highlight it’s the same size lol. They didn’t even take the cupholders out of the panels where the rear seat is in the CX90

Right, just fold the seat. Or make a third row seat an option…

You have some reviewers too talking about how they prefer the way it looks when it’s exactly the same lol

I don’t think the CX90 is doing well in North America . I saw one today with a giant $2500 rebate sticker on it. So likely done to take a way the idea of the extra cost for a 3row seat. Make it look like a cheaper starting price. The CX90 also is having the trim options reduced

I have a 3rd row in my suv. I hate it with a passion. Unfortunately, it was not available with 2 row unlike my 2004 version.

Funniest cope I've seen so far is that "Mazda is just addressing complaints about the cramped third row in the CX-90 by removing it!" The Reddit page is in absolute shambles right now.

Hey look, it's the new Toyota Century

The thing that’s insulting Is the CX 70/90 is so BIG. 202 inches long and 78 inches wide. I guess you could consider it midsize by 1970s standards!

Pretty sure the GX550 driving impressions come out tomorrow (Thurs, Feb 1), embargo is lifted or whatever. I hate how Toyota/Lexus does this. It's plenty into 2024 to bring out a new 2024 model.

Can't wait to read!

idk if there's an industry standard definition yet, but i know in the context of mercedes they refer to cars fitted with a 48V electrical system and an ISG (integrated starter generator) a "mild hybrid"

in those cars there's no accessory belt so the A/C compressor and water pump are both electrically driven, and the alternator is combined with the starter motor in the ISG (that part is made by mitsubishi actually, wouldn't be surprised if mazda is using the same one) which effectively just replaces the flywheel... the ISG can also deliver like 20 hp and 180 ft lbs on its own, which fills in some of the initial turbo lag when you hit the gas

these mild hybrids still need the engine running to move and can't do full EV driving like a prius or something, but they can keep the A/C and other accessories going for much longer with the engine off so the stop/start system can actually put in some work, and starting the engine again is like near instantaneous (like the prius lol)

Hahaha that’s great.

It’s like in the Brady Bunch movie where every building the dad designs looks like his house lol
