Great vehicle for a long highway trip, especially with a lane centering feature like they have now. The separation of the body from the frame gives you more isolation from road noise, which is the one area the LS isn't that well insulated from so that makes sense. Definitely more wind rush though at speeds above 70, thats just a function of the much higher drag.
In the LX the mirror wind or whatever doesn't get louder at 70, I specifically checked for it after you asked about it. It stays silent. We were whispering at 85 from the front to the back seat testing it. It's crazy how quiet it is, I think it's quieter than the Denali. Denali you actually can hear wind around the mirrors, but it's not bothersome.
I get it if you're a sedan person, but an LX is only 197-200 inches long. That's shorter than your car. We have huge roads here but never once have I thought "I'm driving too big of a vehicle."
That's another thing I love about it, absolute 3 ton tank but tidy dimensions in some ways.

You will definitely get more wind rush at speed than a sedan, may not specifically be around the mirrors. Not that it’s bothersome but it’s going to be there. Just a huge difference in drag coefficients. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was quieter than the Denali

It’s not the length it’s just the overall size of it, the weight, the width, just not a vehicle that’s as easy to drive as a sedan. Just not my thing for every day driving. I have not driven the new one and I will, but that QX80 reminded me a lot
of the LX570s I have driven

I get it but I feel like a QX is larger than LX, it looks larger to my eyes.
In any case it’s not my favorite, though at least it has a powerful V8. Off road these are useless.
It is larger, about 8-10 inches longer. 10 inches doesn’t change the fundamental feel of the type of vehicle it is, like I said it reminds me a lot of the LX570 I’ve driven. Suburbans, Yukons etc feel
similar too, although they (and the LX) track way better.

I like the Nissan Armada. It’s so cool. Made in Japan Nissan with a V8. I’m not sure if it has full time 4WD but that would make it even better. Even more epic if didn’t have stupid start stop shutoff
I don't think I'd be able to let go of the fact that underneath it all, the QX80 is a Nissan, with everything that comes with.
Yeah it ain't no LX. They have really nice details inside, though. But they're useless off road. I wish I could find that Youtube video of an incline that an Outback made it up that the QX80 couldn't, even with a low range. That's just pathetic.
@Striker223 lookin good! I got the Mercedes washed yesterday and got the Pacifica washed today.
Thanks! I'm reapplying the coatings to the 460/W12 today/tomorrow so they are good for the coming year. Just got done with decon and marking areas that have swirls etc......
The TDI was only quickly vacuumed and marked for things I think I can correct out, not looking for perfect just passable. I NEED to weld on a muffler of some type since right now it's a rolling noise complaint with a 3 inch pipe and 5 inch tip. Turbo sound is fun and all but not constantly, it needs at minimum a way to valve it quiet

In Nissan Patrol form it’s quite capable, they just neutered the QX80 and Armada because they knew no one would use it the off road hardware in the U.S.

They’re quite stout vehicles that have been on the market for a long time. It’s one Nissan I wouldn’t worry about.

back when i was slingin' the yotas i remember some guy came in to look at a sequoia, he'd had several armadas before and got all agitated at how a similarly spec'd sequoia came out to several hundred $ more per month... it took a fair bit of restraint to not just go well NO S **T! they may both be large V8 SUVs made by a japanese manufacturer but it's like comparing a fresh pizzeria slice to a frozen digiorno

I've never driven an Armada but I always thought they looked good.

The Nissan Patrol has a pretty solid reputation as a stout overland/off road vehicle like the Land Cruiser.
The one I had was a base model with fake wood and not a lot of features, but they can be very nice when optioned up.
