My friend got their new Mustang today. 2024. Ford employee pricing. 5.0 V8 and 6 speed manual. Upgrade package with Brembo brakes and a Torsen differential. A very nice car
Nice. I would never redneck an exhaust out on a new car like that, but I can't deny that I enjoy hearing these crazy V8s with exhausts rumbling by in Mustangs and Challengers, etc. especially since there's a war on V8s that they've lost..for now.... thank you Uncle Sam

i remember when i moved to atlanta and had a 6 speed (legend sedan). i couldn't take it long... driving a stick in that traffic was horrible.
I guess you know yourself well enough to know that a stick shift is not for you.

He has a break in period. Almost a 1000 miles for Ford he says. Interesting the engine went from a single air intake to a dual system for this new gen mustang

Exactly. That is one of the main reasons why, in the American market, with rare exceptions, traditional three-pedal manuals have pretty much disappeared from just about all but dedicated sports-cars. Just too much trouble in heavy stop-and-go traffic. That, and the fact that people have only two arms, and can't shift, steer, and screw around with their cell phones all at the same time LOL.
So they finally looked at my car today lol. To my shock they found the issue. Parts are back ordered and will take a week or so to come in so they are going to release the car to me and have me come back when the parts come in, which is fine.
Going to go look at the S580 they have in the showroom with the ivory interior so I can order my new one.
Wow! That Cressida is amazing! My uncle had one of those, his was burgundy on burgundy...very 90s lol
Picked up my S560, that cures me of any interest in the GLE lol. The first time I put my foot down was a revelation LOL...
It's sort of too bad because I think they were around until 1992, but I certainly understand the reason they killed it. Why buy a Cressida when you could get a Lexus?
Cressidas had insane quality control. And all the right hardware, RWD and I-6.

haha yea the GLE350 has a 0-60 time from the 1980s, i've never driven (don't even know if i've seen one lol) the GLE580 but i'd imagine that feels like quite the piece of machinery with the V8 biturbo + 48V system
i have much more interest in the 580 model than the 53 model, which is really not much different than a 450
I haven't driven a GLE580 but I have driven a GLS580, the engine isn't quite as removed from the experience as it is in the S Class, you get more engine sound and it doesn't feel quite as effortless.
GLS580 wouldn't be any cheaper than an S580 though, MSRP they are about $20k cheaper similarly equipped, but no discounts and no rebates which means they are actually a little more expensive. S580 is the better value unless you really want or need the SUV.

your usual dismissive assessment ignoring the details. it was not for me in DENSE TRAFFIC every day to/from work. prior to moving to atlanta, i enjoyed it on wonderful back roads in pennsylvania.

Honda did manuals with the best of them, absolutely.
Was it a Legend GS? With the 230hp?
it was a fabulous car, shifter, clutch, and yes, it was the legend gs! it was a dark green color with that glorious walnut / leather interior.

my distance to work was 5 mi. 11 traffic lights. it was impossible to do the trip in less than 30 minutes with loads of bumper to bumper. got REALLY old with the stick.
That said it's really nice when you leave the area of traffic and can move freely again
that was only happening at midnight or weekends heading out of town, lol.
i traded the legend for the gs400 and never looked back.
