It seems like whatever new models it will be based on the 3/y platform. I wonder what form factors, hopefully a maverick type vehicle. They did say new models, can't think of what else they would use that Y/3 platform for.
I would imagine the platform would remain the same but shrunk down a little, with incremental tweaks. I personally don't like radical redesigns. For me the most important thing is continual refinement, and better more efficient motors.
Back in 2006 I wanted a Camry SE with the 3.3L V6, but the 2007 redesign had come out, I absolutely hated it. I made the dealer search for a 2006, took him a couple of weeks, but he found one in Southern Cal and had it shipped over. Thankfully I didn't give in because the 2007's had a bunch of issues
I saw the pic of the new seats in the 3P - are those same seats used in the standard 3? Those things look awesome, and I wouldn't think Tesla would use different components based on trim level.
Wow, interesting. I believe that's the first time I've seen Tesla do something with an interior change that varies based on trim level. Am I wrong on that?

Unless you don't count Model S/X I think it's a good move on Tesla's part to slightly separate the Performance models. Also, adaptive dampers are only on the Performance...again if you don't count S/X models. I'm sure this is going to carry on to the Y

I thought Tesla never deviated from anything other than the wheels that would come on different trims within the same line. Sounds like I was wrong there if you're saying they offered more unique options within the S or X depending on trim that you got. I personally am glad to see them do that. I think the new 3 in general is awesome, and think the 3P is even better. I'm excited to see the Y get the same treatment.
I will probably be open to shopping for something new in about a year - my choices would be S, new YP, and I'd look at the BMW i5 and i7.

What I meant was, S/X get better seats and adaptive dampers and air suspension. As far as the new Model 3 Performance, only optional choices are paint and interior colors. All performance models get the same new seats and adaptive dampers. Only one tire option as of now

kind of... Tesla already changed a lot of things on Y specifically despite leaving everything else on the outside the same. They change the frame so much that a lot of manufacturers would call that a brand new vehicle. There are videos on YT showing the differences on model Y while rest of the car was the same.
So I expect a lot of changes here, just like what Toyota would call a new platform, just not produced in a new boxed production thats experimental and never done before.
As to the other models, assumption is that it will be S,Y,X.
Not sure if anyone else has posted this picture, but the Tesla account posted it on X a few days ago before the earnings call. I saw "Autobidder" which I didn't recognize so I looked it up. Very interesting. https://electrek.co/2023/09/15/tesla...rgy-investors/ Did anyone else know about this?
Saw my first ever Tesla accident. Guy in either a Chevy or GMC truck tried to make the light before it turned red and ended up rear ending a white Model Y. Surprisingly, the only damage the Y sustained was to the tailgate, the truck on the other hand wasn't as lucky. I wish I had had my dashcam on, I would have caught it in realtime!

No I didn't. Someone on here mentioned Autobidder, I think they asked me "Do you use Autobidder?" Had no idea what they were talking about
