Domination continues with Lexus
i'd say that's an exaggeration, but i agree overall they're not at competitive as they were, but i put that down more to the huge surge in product from german brands + ev's + genesis.
5 years ago there was no LC. now they have that, a new RX, NX, LX. a new GX this winter. the NX and RX appear to have been well received. so it's not all bleak, but without question, lexus could have done, and should do more.
as i've said before though, mercedes and bmw have no 'lesser brand' to fall back on so they HAVE to increase scale - they're literally fighting for their existence. if lexus went bye bye toyota will still be fine.
GX is just so old though and gets horrible fuel economy but it will continue to sell until the replacement comes.

That’s about right. Imo GX can be part of this group as well. As inflation/recession grow, some people will have different priorities so buying may shift to Lexus. New coming luxury buyers will be more likely to pick them over other brands where long term reliability and maintenance are their concerns.
This is all the more reason why Lexus chasing volume and profit with low end cars and ignoring the upper end is so frustrating.
