I recently bought my 2007 Lexus GS450h. It developed an issue with hybrid battery soon after I bought it. Check Hybrid System, Check VSC, check engine and red triangle popped up every time I started the car. After couple
of days a fan in the back dashboard started to turn on as soon as I started the car and then the car engine started to shut down when driving. I was devastated. I loved the car . Lexus dealership quoted around CAD 6000 for battery pack replacement.

Care to share what the issue was? It's not common for battery packs to go on these hybrids.

 

Yes sure. The diagnosis was that the previous owner or prior to them had replaced the original battery pack with a refurbished one. Two of the cells were bad in this pack and charge was not balanced. What Moni advised was that if I want a permanent solution, installing a new battery pack is the best option. However, I decided to go for repair this time.
You are right, Moni also told that Lexus battery packs go with the life of car. What happened and why previous owner/s changed it, I do not know.
