Default Need help! Battery replacement?

Hello all! I've got an 06 RX400h and the other day the screen flashed "VSC ERROR" and then "Check Hybrid System" came up with the red triangle ! and stayed there. I took it into the local Toyota dealership (Lexus is about an hour and a half away) and had them read the codes for me. They said it's reading P0A7F "hybrid battery pack deterioration" and that a new battery would be needed. Installed they quoted me about $5400.

Anyone else been through this? Any recommendations?

The dealership also said that continued driving could damage the system. Any advice on that?

That's if your 12V is good. As it may throw all kinds of codes.
Many fixed their "dead hybrid battery" by taking it out and cleaning corroded copper busses on battery cells. Then grid charge it.
Look around for indy shop that does hybrids.
Also, refurbished batteries are less than $2K. With warranty and all that good stuff. Just find installer.

I can install it myself. I'll look up how to clean one up and charge it. My 12v may be having issues because I keep jump starting other cars with it. I'll have it tested too.

I was considering these folks: Green Aztec Auto

$2000 is much more feasible. Especially if I get my LS400 projects finished up and sell 1.

Well, folks get them for around $1200-1400 or so. If you were handy enough to get it out, cleaning busses is very easy. Plenty of vids on this on YTube. Same for Prius or any Toyota hybrid. Then you'll need grid charger.
but, like I said - lots of this boils down to bad 12V.

Definitely definitely definitely get your 12v battery checked first. When it gets low all sorts of electrical gremlins show up that are sorted with a new battery. It's probably the number one cause for vsc warnings.
