I've done it many times it is worth the effort. Not possible to rinse all the soap out via vacuum cleaner etc.
The carpet retains its shape and goes back in no problem. Gas pedal comes out with a couple of bolts.

Got the metal rattling sound out of my mid cat converter as well. There was some left over pieces from when the last owner had some one weld on a new cat on the passenger side.
Regarding your bent wheel, if you don't plan on rebuilding the wheels to different specs, it would probably be cheaper to get it repaired at a wheel repair place. Some places offer a back only and will only repair the back of the barrel at a cheaper price rather than refinishing the whole wheel.
