Hello! I have ran into a problem with My 2.2 diesel engine. The engine lost compression and needs to be replaced. I want to know how hard it would be and what parts should be replaced and which ones can stay when swapping a 2.5 engine that is also from a 2is. Or mabye there are other toyota diesel engines that can be easily fitted and are more reliable than the original one. If not, i will just have to stick with the original 2.2 engine swap.P.S. when I bought the car I didn't know that the diesel model had all those engine problems that everyone seems to be having. Now I know 😁.Thanks! Juris

Here's a picture of my car
As these cars were never released in the US, few here in the us have any experience with these so try not to get discouraged. What other problems have you had?
You best bet might be buying damaged gas powered 2IS and moving everything over. I can't imagine it is worth all the work tho vs fixing yours.
Option 2 is to go through the parts list on your build vs the gas version and see what all is different. I suspect it is a very long list that starts at the radiator and ends at the drive shaft to diff covering everything in between.
