Since it wouldn't go into gear that one time, I'd suspect a problem with the brake switch at the pedal. Maybe the bulbs are just blown bow because of the higher amp fuse that couldn't protect them. Not sure about that part. But I'd replace the brake switch just judging by the combination of a failure to go into gear and brake lights going out.

I just did a bit of troubleshooting on it. It looks like when the 3rd brake light lights up, the tail brake lights aren't getting signal. No blown fuses at this point. I agree though, gonna replace the switch as a first step. But hey! At least the tail lights are (hopefully) fine

Believe I've found the issue:

This is the tail light failure module. From reading, the solder on pin 1 (brake lights) will sometimes crack with age/lots of use. I think that happened, which caused the initial fuse blow. Then putting in the 20A fuse let it draw too much current and burned out the part you see here. I've got a new one ordered (found a used one for $30 on eBay) but am also gonna try to fix this one. Partially as a project, and partially so that I have a spare in case this happens again....

Well that was easier than I thought. Just jumped a piece of wire across (pardon my mediocre soldering skills) and it's working now! Still gonna swap it for the new ones, but at least I have brake lights for the time being. Also added some solder to pin 1 where it looked messed up.

Haven't done a ton lately, but grabbed some center caps for my G35 wheels. Not bad at all for $2.38 each and much better than the gaping hole that was there before. I used some leftover vinyl from the stickers I got for my brake calipers to make them match.

I noticed when I installed my LS400 brakes that the calipers have a good amount of flex to them. So, I installed a set of these caliper stiffening bolts (originally produced for 3000GTs, but both are Sumitomo calipers and incredibly similar) and the pedal feels a lot firmer up top.
Pretty happy with the change for $15 (and I'm sure you could put the kit together yourself for cheaper if you figured out bolt sizes). I chose the '91-93 option since we can't use the bolts on our rear calipers - so that gave me 4 bolts total for the front.

Figured I'd pass it on - https://supercar-engineering.com/sc2...roducts_id=136

Sorry that the pic doesn't show the entire thing - didn't think to take pics till after it was all put back together.

Haven't done much lately car-wise, but will be doing a few projects this week.

After some shipping delays, my rear SS brake lines and poly front swaybar bushings *finally* showed up (ordered the brake lines in mid June and the bushings in MARCH (from Russia)). So those are gonna get put on.

Also had a bit of a scare last weekend. Turned on the GS for the first time in a week or so and heard a *loud* rhythmic knock from the engine bay. Sounded to me like it was coming from the head, possibly cylinder #2. Didn't have time to troubleshoot then, so I took the 4Runner and let it sit till Sunday when I finally had a chance to troubleshoot it with a friend. Turns out my power steering pump was the thing knocking (guessing a bearing died?) so I found a low mileage OEM one from eBay, am gonna install it, and then rebuild my old one to keep as a spare. Sooooo glad I'm not ordering parts for an engine rebuild right now - never fun to hear metallic knocking from the engine...

Power steering pump installed! The steering feels much lighter and I no longer have a PS leak. Suuuper easy job - took maybe 3 hours from pulling the car into the garage to finishing the test run. That included a few breaks and taking my time with it.

Also took it to an exhaust shop and had 2 18" resonators installed. Gotta say, I'm much happier. The car now has low-end torque, is dead quiet inside, and still roars outside (how, I'm really not sure). I miss the ignorance of the straight pipe, but this'll be much nicer for cruising/towing.

I did the straight pipe mod last year and maybe looking at the Borla XS mufflers in the future.. The drone is pretty bad but still sounds like a mustang lol.. The borla sounds really good too just doesn't have that drone ..

Yeah, I was gonna just deal with the drone till I really started doing some highway trips. I had to wear earplugs to/from Tail of the Dragon for 8 hours each way. Not fun lol. I would honestly look into doing resonators like I did. Still has some burble on decel, made the sound much smoother on accel, and kept a lot of the volume outside of the car. I ended up using 2 of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-25-Turbo-...72.m2749.l2649

How are these resonators different from stock? You have these resonators and no rear mufflers? I have high flow resonators.. It was a Y-pipe from TopSpeed Pro many years ago. If anything I'll just put on the Borla XS mufflers. I wear ear buds when driving into the next town or anything longer than 15 min lol. Maybe i will do these resonators in the future. I read reviews just like your post that quiets the cabin down but keeps the noise outside

They're honestly pretty similar to the stock resonators. Maybe a bit less restrictive. At the moment I have an X-pipe in place of the third cat, resonators, and no mufflers. Would definitely recommend a similar setup if you don't want it too loud in the cabin.

thanks, Its pretty loud at the moment. Maybe in the near future installing those resonators. Mine are free flowing as well.. So i wonder if it would make a difference. .Thanks again
