Just finished up getting it all mounted. After mounting the headers to the motor and the down pipe to the headers, I had a significant gap that was a major pain in the *** to close up between the down pipe and the y pipe. With a lot of finesse we finally managed to get it all buttoned up and torqued, then re torqued to close up a few small leaks. It sounds amazing.
Steam from engine bay, slight overheating after freeway driving
Today after finishing my exhaust, I took my car out and did some hard(er) driving than normal. Everything was fine all day. Upon arriving home as I pulled into my driveway I noticed the temp gauge a little higher than normal at the same time I noticed some steam coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. I shut the car off and ran some diagnostics with my OBD2. My coolant temp had not passed 230°.
I have noticed over the last few days, a sloshing sound around the firewall. Maybe the heater core? It sounds like pressurized fluid moving around.
I am concerned that I blew my head gasket today....
Inspect for leaks and top off the system/bleed air. The sloshing sound means air got in the system, doesn't mean the core is bad. If it gets low again anytime soon you have a leak somewhere. Not saying it isn't the head gasket or the core, but it's unlikely that you blew anything by doing some high rev driving. The engine is made to rev well past the limiter as mentioned in many other threads/forums. Have you ever looked at the cooling system since you bought it? Maybe it's been low for a while. If you don't have a pressure tester or know how to check it, I'd just get the fluid topped off and watch it for a while.

Out of curiosity, how many miles on your car?
So I purchased the car with 200k miles on it. But I am the 3rd owner, second owner being the brother of the original. This car was maintained extremely well from my understanding. I’m also gonna be real and admit, I did not give the radiator a once over upon purchasing, it very well could of been low from the start. Tonight I am going to my brothers to do a full flush. I topped off last night with pink Toyota specific fluid only to find the radiator full of green. 😑. This motor only needs to hang on for a few more weeks before my aristo 2jz is delivered. Then the GS300 JZ will be stripped down and the head rebuilt. It will also be getting paired up with an RX8 6speed trans with JZ adapter plate and the whole thing will then be dropped into the RX8. It’ll be interesting to see how the rx8 tranny holds up to a 2jzge.

After two failed attempts at trying to keep the pioneer amp, I surrendered and installed a bypass harness. To my disbelief the sound quality has greatly increased. The head unit has impressed me very much already. It’s very responsive to the touch, and very fast at processing multiple apps at the same time. The GPS is accurate, and WiFi and Bluetooth ranges are bananas.
Can anyone let me know if splicing RCAs into the factory sub and running them directly to the head unit will work? Without any amp other than the internal amp from the head unit. Or is that a bad idea?
Had anyone ever used a mono to speaker wire rca cable, and run it from the sub port on a head unit to the factory sub speaker wires? Does this work at all?
