Default Clint's 1999 GS400 - Lexi

Whatsup fellas, I'm Clint from Vancouver, BC, Canada, the land of great beer and maple syrup. Thought I would make a quick build thread.

Here is the car when I first bought her.

Had a great deal of repairs to do within the first few months.

-water pump
-alternator
-timing belt service
-oil change
-new differential fluid
-fresh transmission fluid
-brand new OEM battery

Had all the work done at a local shop I trust. Being a civil servant netted me some discounts at the parts store =)

Got some 01+ tail lights for her

Bought new (used) wiper arms from a vendor here on CL because the existing ones were chipped and rusty. Also cleaned up the windshield shroud and applied some trim sealant. Also dressed up all door jambs and the seals under the hood and trunk.

Polished old, tired headlamps with this kit from 3M. A great temporary solution but the headlights will need to be dressed every once in a while to keep the oxidization from reoccurring. Will need to get these bad boys clear coated in the future.

Glass polishing! Wanted to do this for a very long time! The car had a TON of calcium buildup when I first picked her up. Particularly saturated areas included the windshield, rear windshield and sunroof. Let the pictures speak for themselves!

As shown in the picture with the blue razor blade, there was a very solid film of gunk built up around the perimeter of the glass. I had to scrap it off using a very steep blade angle as this **** was on there good!

Replaced the door lock actuator for the front passenger side door as it wasn't working. Thank goodness for Youtube!

After scouring the internet for a reasonable price for the headlamp washer nozzle, I finally found a new website that was launched recently. The car was missing the nozzle on the passenger side when I bought her.

Lexuspartsdirect.ca

I tried many different US based websites like Carson and Lexus Parts Now but none of them worked for me. I believe it may be the fact that I possess a Canadian VIN number as they ask for the info upon checkout. I even had a friend who lives in the US try to buy the parts for me, thinking that the error was due to the fact that I did not have a US shipping and/or billing address. No luck.

Also found a used owners manual on eBay! Came with a sweet leather case too

Put in new DRLs in 2.5k (yellow).

The old bulbs didn't look so good. Sorry but I didn't take any pics with the new DRLs on but you get the idea

Also had the rear wheel bearing replaced today. Been spending a lot of money on maintaining her!

Nice work. Seems like I'll be following your path since I yet to do most of the maintenance you posted about.

Wasn't there any sealant in the lens polishing kit? I got one from Turtle wax and it comes complete with a sealant to prevent further oxydation
