Having owned my car for a couple of years now, I suppose its time for a build thread. I picked up my 1999 GS400 about three years ago, spent the first year fixing and maintaining it as the front end was pretty torn up. Every thing from the LBJ's, upper, lower and caster arms , sway bar and steering bushings, both front bearings and brakes were replaced, along with the starter and timing belt/water pump as well.
Here is how the car looked the first day I had it
Added a K&N FIPK (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) but swapped out the K&N oil filter with a Fujita dry filter. Owners have mentioned their cars actually throw MAF error codes because of the oil based K&N filter. Its been three years and I've had zero problems with the Fujita filter The sound of an intake on a V8 is an awesome noise
Thanks to BananaGS, I was able to wire the fog lights to come on without having to engage the head lights. The fog light switch is now completely independent from the headlight switch. Daytime running lights were also rewired to off as well.
Picked up a set of '01-05 tail lights.
Couple of more small things, yellow tinted the fogs with pre-cut film from Lamin-X, tinted the windows 15% at the back, 25% at the front and chromed the OEM grill.
Installed a set of 4" muffler tips for a cleaner look at the rear end.
Added a carbon fiber F Sport shift ****.
The following year, I started collecting parts to start and mod the GS. I always loved the classic lines of the car and didn't want to go VIP, as I drive this car every day of the year. I knew I wanted a set of wheels to match the way I felt about this car, no Work VIP stuff or Vossen designs. I ended up finding one of my favorite wheels that matched the GS really well.
Blitz Technospeed Z1 - 19x8 at the front, 19x10 at the rear on a set of Continental DWS tires.
I also upgraded the stock brakes to a set of LS calipers and Brembo blank rotors with Akebono pads. The GS was lowered with a set of Stance coilovers. Great ride and I love the adjustability of the system. A set of Battle Version adjustable rear toe links helps me run stock alignment specs for everyday reliability.
I picked up a set of newer OEM headlights as mine were beyond repair. I cleared out the amber turn signal for a cleaner look as well.
Old VS the New
The following year, I was reversed into by a LS430 so I had the front bumper repaired and repainted. I also picked up an '01-05 grill to match the tails and freshen up the front end.
To match the wheels, a set of Blitz Nur Spec mufflers were installed. I also had the stock resonators removed. The GS sounds MEAN with this combo. Not too loud under everyday driving, but at around 3K rpm under load, the V8 just starts to scream. An eBay rear lip spoiler finished off the rear end.
Thats pretty much it for now, I have a couple of things in mind in the next few months. Thanks for looking.

So here are a couple of updates over the past year. I've always had a bit of a love affair with the Blitz Technospeed wheels so I decided to get them back to brand new condition, with a bit of a custom touch. I had the wheels completely refinished and straightened at a local machine shop. Painted barrels, polished lips and the spokes were painted Tesla grey. New Continental tires as well. I think it came out great.
I also pastidipped the OEM emblems and put them back on the car. Really impressed with the pastidip product, looks great, lasts long and easy application.

Installed a Precision Industries 2800 Stall Torque Converter and TransGo A650 Shift Kit. Here is a quick video of a few pulls off the line. The car really launches itself forward now and the shift kit shifts the tranny super quick.
I'll be visiting the guys at Serial Nine soon for some rear fender work. Pictures to come.
