Texas Lonestar Drift LSx SC400 Build
Hello, I'm Andrew. I reside in the northwest corner of Houston, TX. I may miss the first event of the season for the Texas Lonestar Drift Series, but fingers are crossed! PowerFab Automotive in Houston will be doing most of the drivetrain install and tuning, while Apex Auto Works in Angleton will be taking care of the cage and chassis prep.
The car is a 1994 SC400 with 171k on the chassis. I sold the engine to a friend of a friend who is putting it to good use in his Corolla GTS.
I'll be using your average 100k+ junk yard iron block 5.3 liter Chevrolet LS engine. Only modifications are LS2 intake, 90mm cable driven throttle body, LS1 camshaft, LS6 valvetrain, LS2 timing chain, Holley Accessory Kit, and Improved Racing F-Body Oil Pan kit. They make an EXCELLENT baffle. I used it on a RX7 build years ago. New gaskets and seals will be installed where needed. Not looking to spend a lot of money.
Decided not to use a T56 transmission. They cost too much money and I don't need the extra weight or gears. This is a track only car. For the time being, the transmission I'm using is a refreshed Borg Warner Super T10 4spd manual from a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro. It is a 26 spline input shaft, so any Camaro/Corvette Clutch Kit will work. These older transmissions are about .4" shorter, so a Chevy Truck flywheel has to be used. The bellhousing is a replica Chevy BBC "621" housing. Fits 11" clutch kits and bolts up to the LS just fine. Gearing is rather high though at 3.42, 2.28, 1.46, and 1.00. I plan on using the factory 3.92 SC400 differential, welded of course, so we'll see...
I purchased the mount kit from AMSmike here on the forums, but through his eBay account. Very nice items.
THANKS!

You probably are confusing SC300 gearings from SC400. No SC400 came with 4.27 gear set.
92-00 Lexus SC300 auto---- 4.272:1, open, small diff, small flange
92-97 Lexus SC300 5spd---- 4.083:1, open, small diff, small flange
92-96 Lexus SC400 (auto)---- 3.916:1, open* small diff, small flange
1997 Lexus SC400 (auto) after MC but before going to 5AT trans - 3.916:1, open, small diff, BIG flange.
98-00 Lexus SC400 (5AT trans, VVTi)---- 3.266:1, open, small diff, big flange
OP - good luck with the build .
