Default JRiggs|GS300|A Silver Story

Well I picked up another GS, it's nearly identical to my old one
1999
GS300
Silver on Black
Standard Sound
By nearly identical I mean I could have kept my old GS it's that close (photos are of my old GS, but I can't tell)

Mods so far:
DIY Aux input / CD changer delete (HERE is a link to the DIY thread)
DIY Early Amber Removal (LINK to my old DIY.... the best DIY for this)
DF210 Springs and KYB Gr2 Shocks (I'll post link to kit later)
LED Interior lighting (I'll post link to where later)
Rubber winter floor mats from my old 645 they are green and from a BMW but fit perfect
Window tint whatever darkness is legal in Florida

Waiting to install:
Spacers on stock 16s, I think it'll be unique
H&R 25mm DRM (I'll add a link to where later)
Waiting for motivation to install
Effective size of wheels with spacers 16x7.5 et25

LS430 Sport 18s
Waiting for motivation to install
Scratched from list - Audi RS4 Reps 19s, once again I think these will look good and unique
Sitting in garage waiting on me to buy wobble lugs

Plans (time frame < 6 months):
Going to Coilovers Cleveland winters are a bit ruff riding this low
Scratched got tired of waiting - Tanabe Sustec - on order (I'll add a link to where later)

Integrate Nav unit into ash tray

Found out my RS4 wheels are out of round. So I picked up a set of 19x8.5 et35 MRR HR2s and wraped them in 245/35/19 Dunlop Direzza tires, tossed them in the car (one had to ride shot gun), and headed home.

Once I got home I realized I forgot to get new lug nuts and hub rings.... super smart on my part. So the wheels hug out in the foyer for a week (the pretty lady "loved" that) while everything came in. While waiting on my lugs I grabbed some Schwaben Protecta Sockets and a new torque wrench. These "protecta" sockets are great, no worries what so ever about scratching my wheels. The new torque wrench is going to stay in the car with the sockets so if I need to change a wheel it's a cake walk.

Playing with the ride height trying to find the sweet spot I've decided this works for now. Might go lower later but for now I'm happy with this.

Coming very Soon:
I have a few feet of Di-Noc Carbon Fiber use on the interior trim
New components are in the garage waiting to go in
Boom box for the trunk is built I just need to cover it

Coming sooner than later:
New head unit - stock ones starting have issues
"Custom Exhaust" aka muffler delete pipes with decent tips

Maybe soons:
LSD
Hella horns
Custom door plates
Lip maybe a TTE
LED tails that don't look bad
Projector headlamps
3,000k fog lamps
Color change to gloss black

I've played with the ride height some more, still exactly where I want it. Currently she's on Tein Advanced Coils, the front could go down another two and a half inches the rear about another two inches.

Current plans:
  • New bumper with shaved side markers waiting to get painted
  • TTE Lip painted waiting on new bumper to get painted
  • 01+ grille and emblem to update the front slightly
  • New headlights to replace the fogged over, scratched, and scared current ones
  • Ziza 9006 super yellow bulbs for the fog lamps
  • Ziza 9006 crazy bright white bulbs for the low beams
  • New double din head unit gotta figure out which one soon, factory units buttons decided to stop working on my drive to work today (suggestions welcome, android phone comparability is a must)

Just wrapped up installing my new headunit, I'm posting from it! Thanks to ebay mobile and tequila I picked up and android tablet / car radio. The audio quality is great and being able to watch ok well listen to ESPN drive to work is going go be pretty awesome. Netflix, Pandora, iheartradio, tunein, and a few other apps for audio and video pleasure, along with AngryBirds and a few ofher games, and even a google voice number for the car just for ****s and giggles.

I'll add some photos and maybe a video of the unit in action tomorrow, then a detailed review in a few weeks.

On my way home I decided I didn't like the way the double din cover deal fit so while stilling in traffic I pulled it apart to try to refit it...not my finest move. Needless to say I now need to do a ton of finishing and finishing work o well such is life.

As for the head unit itself, so far the audio quality is a good bit better than the stock Lexus sound system and I haven't even really messed with the settings. Played with it on my drive today Pandora, iheartradio, and TuneIn all work perfectly, even watchESPN and NetFlix work on this little guy.

Found out that there are a few HD radio stations in my area, and heck there are a lot more radio stations in general than I thought. Reception is amazing compared to the factory GS radio.

The GPS is probably the best I've had in a long time. Google Maps/Navigation and iGo are pretty slick on it, all run very smoothly. It has a few other apps but I haven't touched them.

The unit came with a TV antenna I managed to destroy during install. I don't know how but it was fragile and I was careless I guess. No biggy I'll wire up a new one for the fun of it this weekend.

It has iPod controls, but I have no clue where my iPod is, I'll try to find it this weekend to see how that works. Also has USB driver access and micro SD card access once again no clue where my USB hard drives are and I haven't had time to put anything on it via the SD card.

Over all I'm pretty impressed with this little radio.

Cars going up for sale, we're moving out to the country and I'd prefer a four wheel drive. PM me for more info.

yeah just figured I'd give my 2nd gen brethren a heads up in case anyone is looking for another GS. I'll put up a nice for sale post soon in the classified section.

I wouldn't mind keeping it but at the same time I don't mind letting it go. I can always grab another GS later down the line when we have the driveway to the lodge paved and heated.

Ebay will be the easiest place fit you to find it. Search es778 and it should pop up
