Looking good. I'd go a little bit lower.

Nice thread. Very nice build.

Good job breathing a lot more life into an older platform.

AMSMIKE, Thank you very much for posting the measurements. I doesn't look like any of the pans will clear without modifications. The Holley LSx pan is the closest I could find, but according to your measurements the sump is still about a 1" too long horizontally. 7.62" vs 6.75"

I guess I'll have to ask one of the guys at work if they can weld aluminum. I selected my 5.3L and 4L80E transmission in the junk yard today, and pick them up next weekend!

That Holley pan is close but I think that extra inch will hit the steering rack. I have about 1/2" between the sump and my rack for clearance. I would use my measurements of my pan as a bare minimum.

Glad i could help.

just another to show clearance

Engine is $550 and trans is $600, though I will probably pick up the alternator and power steering pump as well for another $150-200 while I'm there.

AMSMIKE, is that the front sump GTO pan? I was under the impression the sump would be on the rear of the engine, but GTO pans have the sump on the front of the engine.
