The 3rd gear and the 2nd shaft is replaced, on monday comes the reverse gear and the 5th gear back on place and bring it back in the housing.
The pressure line is now a dash04 line. before, i had a dash03 line. i hope, this upgrade eleminate the very short time of shifted close the clutch (sorry for my bad english). the place for the fluid to come back, after remove the foot from the clutch pedal, was to small and the clutch closed not in 1:1 time. every time a part of a second shifted. i read in many forums and i think, the too small line is my problem. original comes the kit from 1UZswapkits (years ago) with a Dash04 main line and a Dash03 bleedline. But at this time, the was no infos to the correct size from the dealer (long story.... )
Tom - I've ALWAYS loved your car and your upgrades are always very well thought out. Love seeing the transmission torn apart and I look forward to seeing more progress!
the last days, i had time to finish the gearbox. cleaned all threads and bolts, removed old sealant and cleaned the parts.
its a little bit tricky to mount the front housing. it needs much attention of the first gear/sync parts to have no space between. i removed 2 times the front housing, because the bearing was to much outside of the front.
but at least, a small turn on the input shaft and a move on the shift fork, and the shaft was in the correct high to fit the retaining rings.
yesterday, the last parts onbolted on the housing. the new dash lines in -03 and -04 also installed.
yeah! ready to bring it back in the SC chassis
the last thing to do is, to close the holes from the lines with sealant.
In thelast days, i changed the to short bolts for the thwowout bearing plate. the thread in the alloy was not good, also longer bolts (M10x1,25 from 45-55mm, 38Nm torque), now its ok and all bolts are tight. on friday, we installed back the gearbox, and bleeded the clutch lines. now, the inputshaft is correct in the pilot bearing i´m happy. driveshaft installed at last and i wait for a warm day to bleed the clutch system complete and adjust the pedal. now we have all over the day under 32°F and this is not funny to work.
And the AEM wideband sensor is now connected to the gauge.
On monday, i had time for a short trip with the SC. All gears are fine, no bad sound, no vibrations! The AEM wideband works fine, only the greddy informeter can not illustrate correct the value from the AEM gauge. i can adjust in the informeter the the value for 0V and 5V but the work not correct. maybe the wiring have a ground problem or the x-uego is not compatible to my oldschool gauge. the old wideband have other voltage steps for A/F from 0-5V. The x-uego goes 05-4,5V with different A/F values compared to the old gauge.
After the 20 miles trip, i checked the car from the underside and found a little bit oil on the propellershaft. i think, i used too much oil if i installed the shaft i cleaned the area and the shaft with break cleaner. the next trip will let me know, whether the oil seal is bad. i hope everything is okay.
Tom I just adore your car - something about a V8 manual coupe just does it for me (don't tell anyone, but there's days I'd almost rather have a nice big N/A V8 instead of my 2jzgte). Keep enjoying that beauty!
After a 25 miles trip today, i checked the seal again and no oil more. i used only to much oil for the pinion when essembling. i´m now happy, all works fine, the clutch works like original
today i tested up to 100mph, this was not possible before, the car vibrated until the end of acceleration.
Time to get polish the car, remove some small dents and clean the interior for the season 2023
