Default My new 91 ASE tech/PICS build trans code 63 68

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone first time poster, but have be reading for about three months now. Love this place! Will test and clean solenoids on my day off tomorrow. The O/D light has flash at me three different times now but always after driving about 10 mile first. Cleaning the car if found a pan gasket in the trunk by the spear tire. This car is a lot quieter the my 91 civic.

Well it’s been like 400 mile and now light
The filter is just a screen so I just clean it with brake clean and the bottom of the trans/valve body with both of the shifter solenoids in parts cleaner for ½ hr put it back to getter with gasket 15lbs pan was clean inside and on with silicone please don’t use silicone 3 ½ qts. Of Toyota ATF type 4 with filter and solenoids off. Both solenoids are held with one 10 mm. #1 shift solenoid was new and #2 was OE test @ around 5.3 ohms. Put them in opposite places as a test, they have the same part #

Any updates with this thread? I currently have a tranny code #63, just curious as to what you came up with... I have read people soaking it in PB blaster and others in WD40. Any preference to one or the other?

Default I love all LS

No, I still need to buy a shift solenoid or try a longer cleaning. I would pull them out and soak them in some kind of solvent any thing to brake down the varnish and gum. I wish I would have socked mine a lot longer the 30 mins. Mark them so you can switch them around! It will either work grate or your have to get a new solenoid and just manually shift it 1-2-D when it acts up.
Anybody if you live in St. Louis I work at a shop or on the side Damon 314-277-0745

62 - Open or short circuit in no. 1 solenoid valve "This is the code I get now"

63 - Open or short circuit in no. 2 solenoid valve "code before the clean and swap"

67 - OD direct clutch speed sensor signal malfunction "old code I think it was from the missing second gear and a little slip going in to third = 1 to 3 = slip

I have yet to see that code after the swap. I work on everybody else's car and don't have time for mine, but should have my own garage in 15 days! Lease is up on my apartment

Well it's good to know your still here. Well, after I read this, and the other wonderful sites you posted, I went and tried it. I also did the shimming of the 1-2, and 2-3 shift accumulators. I still haven't really had a chance to drive it around other than around the block. The car drove well, but the fluid is still relatively cool, so I will have to take it on a cruise to really find out. I soaked mine in PB Blaster for about 1.5 to 2 hours. Keep us updated if you find anything out, or find a good price on a solenoid.
