SC400TT Project Car
Gang: I just read up on the details of LexFest, and you can count on me to be there...I have registered on the official site, and I osted up another pic of the project as my car pic, but it will have to be reviewed and approved first. It shows the turbos in place with the Y DownPipe while under construction. I will have Stage I completed by then with no problems...End of September, not the beginning, so, no problemo...I may indeed have enough time to get Stage II completed by then as well...Conrods, come on, come to Papa!!!
Thanks,
Ryan
Thanks,

That black exhaust housing looks nice. Wonder how long it will remain black?
Yes, those are some very clean and shiny ceramic coats.
Looking great man. Keep it up
By the way, your setup looks very similar to this twin v8 setup.

Sweetness.... I can't wait to see the intake piping from the turbos to the intercooler and from there to the TB. Is your intercooler a dual inlet single outlet?
What are the diameter sizes on all of the plumbing so far? looks to be 3" DP's into a Y that flanges to what seems to be a smaller diameter 90 bend before it reaches the actual downpipe. (or before the cat exhuast whatever you want to call it) Are my eyes deceving me from the pictures?
Also the DP isn't installed in the oil tap picture, correct?
I know this is picky but the oil tap looks like you got it from home depot, it looks like lead gas pipe T fittings.
I know it works but couldn't look a little more professional/Cool like some aluminum AN fittings for all the money you've spent.
Good work though, I've been anticipating these pics for a while now.
For the record it wasn't fair to us to make us wait this long!

The Y Bend is not a smaller diameter, it is all 3 inch

I do not believe it was in this pic...I took many, so I have to check....

Actually I agree with you, and those are being changed to the AN fittings...

Gang, I have been getting a lot of questions about my cost of admission to this project...Remember, this has been in the works for a while, and I am doing alot more to this car than is neccessary to TT the V8. If you want a much toned down version of this, and don't plan to make the many changes I have and am doing, then here is what you can expect for a very fun and powerful V8 TT upgrade, IMO.
If you can do me a favor, let's not get off track and go back and forth debating the costs to do this...If you want to do that, please open another thread on that specific subject.
This is what I expect, based upon my experience with this, and I do have a lot of experience on this...
I haven't totaled the exact numbers, but I have spent well over $40k for everything I have done. But that includes suspension, drive train, Big Brakes, and wheels, bushings, paint, stereo, custom fiberglass, etc... But, if you just focus on a TT set-up for your V8, and go with a TT with stock internals, keeping your HP to 450 to 500 BHP (350 to 375 at the rear wheels), that is all the stock tranny and engine can handle...Then, you should be able to do a quality setup with all new parts for approximately $7,000 installed. Keep in mind that is doubling your HP and TQ, which puts you right there in power with all the badass V8s coming into the marketplace now. This essentially doubles your HP. Most stock SC400s dyno approximately 170 RWHP, and 180 TQ. SO, you will absolutely love the change, and you will be faster than most cars out there on the road.
One thing is for sure for most of you out there...You will no longer be complaining your SC400 is slow...
Hope that helps you...
