Default Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood Question(s)

Quick question just so I understand this right and don't do something I shouldn't..

I'll be getting my OEM style' CF hood from Seibon here on Friday..
I've read on a few RC Facebook groups to add some sort of 'Hood Pins' when installing the hood itself.

Apparently the fiberglass resin hood catch isn't enough or shouldn't be trusted??
Someone recommended a brand called Aero Catch. They're about $100 for a set which isn't bad.

Making sure it's something I should or shouldn't do.. I've seen a few installs with them but not everyones..
Is the hood catch itself not to be trusted?

I understand making a small $100 investment is the smart option, compared to having a hood potentially blow up on me and crack the windshield..

Needing some opinions before I move forward with installation.. I just didn't see this being an issue with Seibon being around for a while..

Thanks Lexus family! Hope everyone enjoys their New Years!

I have one en route also. I’ve seen a whole lot of posts by people saying you don’t need the hood pins unless you’re going to run the car competitively. I haven’t seen mention of what you referenced before though. Are they hood pins? Could you post more or a link to what it is?

This isn’t the place for general questions, you should post it on the main RC forum.

regardless, I’ve seen many people run the Seibon hood with no hood pins and have had no issues, even with hardcore track use.

Don't need the hood pins, very unlikely it'll fly off unless you're constantly going 120+

Even over time? I was wondering if the hood catch might ever lose its strength or not??
I won't be reaching those speeds often but I do get top there sometimes without meaning to..

I don’t even get on an interstate highway for months at a time. Twice a year to get to the dealership for my annual inspection and 5k service intervals. Very rare other than that but I have hit 90 or so in a very short stretch of my daily commute. I’m going to leave out the pins because I’ve seen posts of Cali drivers who have the hood without pins for over a year with no issue.

I've had no hood pins for years with no issues, but if you want to be 100% safe then get hood pins.
