Oxidation & Fine Scratch Removal
My Black '92ES has ton of fine scratches and oxidation spots on the hood, trunk and roof... I've tried Meguiar's Cleaner Wax and then a synthetic compound.....non of which did absoloutely anything....is there any particular product or method to removing these?
A synthetic compound? Can you elaborate, please?
Can you feel the scratches or oxidation with your fingertips or fingernails?
Go outside, feel your Lexus and report back here.

The oxidation is not too severe you can only tell from upclose, they seem like very stubborn stains that cant be removed with wax, I tried bottle that says "synthetic compound, removes oxidation" and didnt do much, should I move on to a scratch remover?
C'mon eddie...Just a little more.
1. Who makes the compound?
2. Can you feel the scratches or oxidation with your fingertips or fingernails?
3. You plan on tackling this by hand?
4. Do you park outside?
We'll get you moving in the right direction.

See my post on "Report: Meguiars Body Scrub and Scratch-X..." etc. That method might help you with light oxidation and fine scratches. You really have to strip the surface with a good prep procedure before you can address issues in the paint surface like oxidation and scratches.
Cleaner waxes are, IMO, not that useful.
Caution: The Meguiars Body Scrub is not intended to be used on cars that do not have a clearcoat.

RalAegidius, are you saying that cleaner waxes are not that useful for oxidation and fine scratches? Or are you saying that cleaner waxes are not that useful in general? Why not? I just spent two hours polishing and waxing last night with a cleaner wax. Am I wasting my time?
