I would recommend to use one of paint sealants as they give better protection and provide higher durability than wax. There are many of them available on the market. I'm using Japanese nano coating Pika Pika Rain for my LX570. I've also used it for my previous 06 GX470. Absolutely satisfied. Nano coatings are a little bit pricey, but the do what they claim for. I don't wanna use cheap products on my 65k car. I think, these coatings are the future of auto care industry.
I wonder, if anybody else is using similar products?
Anyone prepping for winter (and who does their own washing and maintenance throughout the colder months) should grab a bottle of Optimum No Rinse (ONR) for easy garage cleaning.
Check out the detailers domain customer reviews if you have any questions. I live in AZ and use it year-round for all three of my vehicles because I get such good results from it.
You would have to let the sealant cure first before topping with a wax. If you wanted wax only, I've read great things about using Collinite for winter protection. I'm waiting for 845 and 476s to come in.
I wash, clay, apply Klasse AIO and then top it with Klasse HGS, and 12 hours later I apply a coat of Collinite 845 and then in a week I will wash it again and top it with another coat of 845 and top that with Natty's red. I only polish out swirls in my spring detail because I know the car will get swirled up in winter anyways.
