It's a good wax man.... it's like $14 a bottle that will last you several years if you do your car 4-5 times a year. What are you waiting for.

With proper prep (clay, full decon, IPA) the wax should be good for about 2-4 months from my experience. Obviously the longer you go the worse the beading is going to get. If you daily drive the car, you'd probably get a solid 2-4 months out of it. Just don't use dish soap to wash the car after you applied it because then you'll strip the wax after a month easy.

Remember, use very little of it during application and apply it thin. It adds alot of depth to paint (although any wax does I suppose). It's not strong enough to last a winter with salty roads in my experience, but it's still a hell of a strong wax.

I'm sold on it. applied it to both Lexus and my 4runner back in
September. Very easy to work with and nice deep shine.

I use it on our 4 vehicles and on my customers vehicles. If washed regularly with a good wash, (i.e. Meguiars gold class car wash) I have had it last 6 months no problem. And that is on a DD. When I get home to my other computer, I will post up some pictures of customers cars that I have used it on.

(ack...ignore this post, for some bizarre reason I thought it was about the 476 paste, sorry)

Six months also is what I get using it. Put on a coat when it's a nice spring day and then again in the fall (a week ago). Well, actually three coats on hood, roof and trunk, two on the sides. Probably overkill but oh well.

Good shine, easy to apply (thin! thin!) and lasts forever. The lasting part sold me, as there are lots of products with as good or better shines.

If you really want a long lasting wax do yourself a favor and just get Opti-Coat 2.0, Wolfs Hard Body, or Wolf's Body Wrap. Those are actually products that last as long as they claim. I have never had a Collinite Wax last anywhere near 6 months... not even 476 with two coats.

Everyone please remember that prep and environment have a huge impact on longevity of waxes. Its better to go into it with lower expectations since you'll be surprised with the results

That's absolutely true.

In my case, I doubt it was the prep work or lack of that that affected the performance of the wax. I mean, I prepped it the same way I prep before any wax application> wash/degrease, iron-x>3m general adhesive on tar>ipa wipedown X2> wax

The waxes to me were really strong the first few weeks, but after the first wash, the beading was greatly reduced.

I don't get that at all with the Wolfs that I am using now. I could even be using strong degreasers on the car and it doesn't do anything to the beading.

I'm in the same boat. After the first wash, beading was virtually gone anda after another wash, little to almost no sheeting or beading. I prep my car the same way I always have in the past (clay, megs 80, megs 7) and it just doesn't last as long.

Also remember that beading doesn't equal protection all the time too

Yeah, you're right. I've heard that before. Maybe I'm just nuts, but if I don't see any beading... or below average beading, I feel the need to add a fresh layer of wax. To me, no beading=no protection. I have to see it to believe it otherwise I feel like I have wasted my time.

No beading is a good indication that your protection is wearing thin (no pun intended). If nothing else, it's a sign that stuff is sticking to your paint that shouldn't be.

I do have to admit that if it hasn't rained significantly or at all during the week, I just give the car a continuous hose water wash only with very light wiping, no soap. That probably has a lot to do with the longevity.

My RX, my GF's Accord, and my grandma's Explorer all get full sun everyday and all receive the same wax, collinite 845. The RX get's the worst sun and it lasts 5 months no problem. Explorer, 6 months easy. The Honda, 4-5 months depending on if it gets washed frequently like the other two.
I guess it really all depends on the paint and how you take car of it. I wash with Meguiars Gold Class Car wash once a week or every other week and I think that helps as well.
