GTechniq EXOv2 vs. Opticoat?
I am taking delivery of a 3IS in early December. I would like to have a sealant professionally applied soon after I get the car. In my area, SW CT, I have a choice of a detail shop that uses GTechniq EXOv2 and another that applies Opticoat.
Anyone aware of any factors to recommend one over the other?
Thanks

I have not used the GTechniq, but the technology is the same between the coatings a hydrophobic surface that is meant to be harder than factory clear coat to minimize swirls and scratches. We are authorized installers of the Opti-coat Pro in Chicago and have been along with our customers very happy with the results.

I have Gtechniq EXOv2 on my wife's IS250 convertible. The comparable product to OC 2.0 in the Gtechniq line is C1, not EXOv2. EXOv2 was introduced to address some complaints about C1 - insufficient glossiness and slickness. C1 is the more durable product, and can be topped with EXOv2 to add the missing glossiness and slickness. EXOv2 can also be used by itself, but it is less durable than C1, which in turn is less durable than OC 2.0.
EXOv2 is very easy to apply, so it's a good first coating to try. The slickness, beading, and roll-off are pretty amazing, but I'm not so blown away with it that I've given up trying other products.

IMO - just go with OC Pro. The GTechniq line of products seems to have very mixed reviews. Some people saying it has a hazy appearance when not applied in ideal conditions. Some saying it doesn't last. Some saying it is the best coating on the market. and everything in between.
I personally have no experience with GTechniq, so I cannot weigh in based on personal experiences.
OC Pro, however, is a product that I have never heard bad things about. It has never had a warranty claim, which shows it's true abilities, and is used by many trusted professionals.
