Default new car waxing

Hey guys i just got a IS350 Smoky Granite Mica, and i don't know when i can wax it. The dealer said they put on a coat of wax already but i don't trust them. I've had the car for 5 days now and i really want to put a good wax on it. Is it ok to Dawn the car and wax it?

It would be fine. I would wash with Dawn, then clay while still wet. Then rinse, dry and apply wax of your choice.

IMO, there's no need to wash with Dawn if you're going to clay. Claying removes wax and sealant.

Most modern polishes and cleaner waxes would remove anything your dealer put on the vehicle. When I got my SGM IS350 home, I used Klasse AIO on it, and topped it with Sourveran. It's a great combination for darker colors.

If you wax often (at least every couple of months), then a typical wax is fine. If you want more durability, consider a sealant.
