Please help!!!!!
Is there any product to color tan leather? I'll explain.
I had a pen mark on my front seat. I tried leather cleaner but it did not work. Then stupid me, I tried to rub it with alcohol. Now I have a quarter size discolored circle (brown color).
Thanks.
They do sell leather/vinyl dyes, but the kind that's available in shaker cans at Auto Zone etc. likely would not have an exact color match. You would be better served by going to the dealership or a local upholstery shop and asking them who they use to recondition and redye their cars' leathers. Every dealership has a guy that comes in to do this, I know of one locally that I learned from.
You can usually buy the dye at any automotive paint supply store (SEM and DuPont both sell excellent dyes) BUT, it will depend upon whether or not they have the color codes from Lexus in their computer. You'll also need a compressor (or hobby compressed air cylinder) and an airbrush or spray gun. It cannot be brushed on.
The last time I checked here near me, they told me Lexus hasn't released any of their interior color codes to them, thus they could not mix it for me. I just wanted to have some for the Lex as insurance, just in case, because I have some for my Ford and my mother's Caddy.
An independent leather resprayer will simply work by eye, mixing the color up by trial and error till he gets a match. It would cost you around $100 probably but if done correctly, you'd never know there was a problem prior. Some of those guys are wicked good. You would be surprised how many used cars on the dealer lot have had their leather retouched.
You can look in your yellow pages too, but it's more than likely an upholstery shop or a dealership knows the people who specialize in this type of thing. Good luck!
I called them yesterday. They need 1" inch leather square sample. They send it to some company. This company does computer match on the color of the leather. They said I can get a sample from under seat or head rest or door panel. So far I can not find extra leather do send it to them.
First I’ll check the dealership. If it does not work I'll check out those guys.
