Interior Protection
Has anyone put any UV protectant on any inside part of RX, like dash, seats, etc. ? I am thinking of using something like Turtle Wax Inside Job or Meguiar ultimate protectant.
From what I understand very little UV penetrates the glass/windshield. I use the Chemical Guys cleaner product. If does not fog the interior of my windows. Leaves a clear matt finish with no shine.
Hi Lexus-SSA,
I am currently using Mother's VLR on the dash, doors, and part of the seats. However, I am strongly considering switching to saddle soap. My biggest concern is the heat from the Texas sun. For the info screens, I use eyeglass cleaner.

As you all know, our Lexus is new so I am trying to use a protectant, not so much a harsh cleaner. Just trying to keep the brand new interior, brand new!
I see all the new ones have Ceramic and Graphene infused for better UV protection. I see ggebhardt's point on the glass having UV protection as well.
Thanks

I use 303 Aerospace protectant on all interior plastics and the treated leather seats, as well as in the engine bay. Just spray on and wipe with a cloth. It's used on boats and planes, so should be good enough.

your UV protection would primarily be in the materials of the interior itself then anything beyond that is your glass then your glass films.
any actual UV protection of stuff that comes in a bottle is slim to none. i'm talking fractions of a percent. it's been tested.
so use your sprays, but claims of uv protection is super greatly exaggerated.
if you have laminated side glass then you're pretty much protected from those and the windshield. if not laminated, then you're talking 75% or around there. then you make up the difference with a good window film.

I see a dramatic difference between interior surfaces that are never treated and ones that have regular UV blocking interior detailer applied. I don't know exactly how the protection works but it does.
Having said that getting ceramic tint makes a massive difference.
