1998-2005 Lexus GS GS300 GS400 GS430 Bilstein HD shocks NEW SOLD SOLD SOLD
I originally purchased these Bilstein Heavy Duty (HD) shocks (2 fronts and 2 rears) to use for my car with lowering springs (1” drop L-tuned springs), but after some research found out that they are ideally best used for non-lowered or mildly lowered cars. Nonetheless, I purchased some Bilstein Sport shocks (approx. 1” shorter cut in the piston rod for lowered suspensions) and have these Bilstein HD shocks taking up space in my garage as I never got around to shipping them back.
If you are looking to get rid of the “Lexus float” in your 2nd generation GS without dropping your suspension while getting a more compliant, yet comfortable ride over the stock shocks, going with this full set of Bilstein HD shocks is the way to go.
These Bilstein HDs have NEVER been installed and are NEW. These are the among the highest quality shocks on the market and are made by Bilstein—an OEM German manufacturer for luxury and sports car European imports.
Bilstein HD Part Number (Fronts): F4-BE5-2743
Bilstein HD Part Numbers (Rears): F4-BE5-2744
Price: $400 (Paypal preferred) + actual cost of ground shipping from zip code 83709 (Boise, ID)
The price is very fair for what I’m asking for. Check out all the online websites for the same shocks.

Yes, this is a great price for new, never used Bilstein shocks. You could install these up to about an inch drop, but anything more, I would go with the Bilstein Sports. Again, these Bilstein Heavy Duty (HD) are great for stock springs and will get rid of the Lexus float the 2nd generation GS are known for while driving on the freeway. Not harsh at all will drastically improve your car's handling and performance will giving a compliant and comfortable ride.

Did you get the sports installed? I also ordered some sports and just wondering how you found them. Body roll reduced enough? or would sway bars be needed too? Sorry for off topic, but thought i'd ask. I also decided on L-tuned/bilstein setup.

Mark:
The Bilstein Sports are awesome when combined with the L-tuned springs (1" drop). The Bilstein Sports give the GS a more compliant ride without being harsh. The car should have come from the factory this way. Being that they are cut 1" shorter than the HD shocks, they don't bottom out as easily.
As it is now, body roll is reduced enough for me, and it doesn't jerk your neck side-to-side, but if it's not enough after you get the springs/shocks in place, then go for the new sway bars. Alternatively, new OEM Lexus sway bar rubber bushings (2 front, 2 back; about $60 total parts) may be a way to go to firm up the ride as well at a low cost. Another cheap option without going for new sway bars are the Daizen sway bar polyurethane bushings (very firm) could also work for you to stiffen the lean, but if you don't lube them up 1-2x per year with their grease, they'll squeak.
Good luck to you.
