We spend a lot of time talking about the things that set Lexus vehicles apart, namely luxury, design, performance and reliability. But perhaps we don’t spend enough time talking about the most important aspect: safety.

That’s a Lexus SUV you see in the trees, some 30-feet below the highway. And the lady who accidentally drove it there is somehow still alive.

Well, perhaps somehow isn’t specific enough; it’s safe to say the Lexus had a lot to do with it.

But don’t take our word for it. Take it from one of the officers on the scene, who, after surveying the damage, offered up his ringing endorsement of the marque.

“Buy Lexus. They stand up well to 30-foot drops. It is surprisingly intact,” the officer tells My San Antonio.

Indeed it is. Other than perhaps some blown tires and a dented hood, the SUV appears to be fine. Although we admittedly don’t have the best angles to survey the damage.

Reportedly, the Lexus driver was attempting to take the Babcock Road exit on Loop 1604 in San Antonio, Texas. But she apparently lost control of the SUV, smashed into a dividing wall and lost a tire. The Lexus “careened down an incline into a ditch about 30-feet below.”

The lady was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition. However, officers note that she was unable to coherently answer many questions about the accident.
