Default Offset help for 2nd gen GS430

As much as I've tried to understand 'offset', I almost always get it wrong. I have an opportunity to buy some older wheels that are completely classic. However, they seem to be a really aggressive setup.

They are 17x8 +5mm offset (front) and 17x9 +22mm offset (rear). My car is lowered...but not slammed. Could anyone tell me if these will work without any body work?

Without body work, it would be a no. The rear would work with some shaving of the fender. The front is pretty extreme.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but +5 on a 8 inch wide wheel wouldn't be the same as +5 on a 10 inch wheel. Is that right? If so they may fit just fine.

Looks like someone loves beanie babies.

You are right the x8 +5 is not the same as x10 +5. I am pretty sure, though, that x8 +5 with no body work will not work on a 2GS front without rubbing.

I am also assuming that no body work = no extreme measures (such as stretched tires and camber adjustments).

This is why I get so confused with this stuff. A +10mm on a 8", 8.5", 9",....is all different.

Can anyone refer me to an easy write-up for me to read to make sense of offset/rim width?
