need help w/ rear brakes

Default need help w/ rear brakes

i just did my rear brake, put on new rotors, new ss brake lines and new shocks and springs...my back brakes sound like they are continuously grinding, like the pads don't separate after the brake pedal is pressed...did i install the pads wrong?...is my set up not right?...please help...

hmmm...sounds like theres a whole bunch of possiblities.... did u adjust the brake adjuster?

check the dust shield is not touching the brake rotor anywhere

ill check those tomorrow, also theres a few sounds going on, pad grinding, a "wire scraping" and a loud humming/scraping noise, any guesses on what could cause this?

now those sounds you describe sound like you did something to your parking brake assembly when you removed you brake rotor.. happened to me once when i was working on alsilverbullet's car .. the rear parking brake assembly fell apart when removing the rotor and made all kinds of noises..

remove the rotor again and make sure the parking brake shoes , tenioner and springs are all in place, you might just have to turn the thumbwheel to readjust the setting on the shoes for it just might be making contact on the inside of your rotor next to the hub

This could also be the sounds of the brake rotors and pads wearing in. Especially if the rotors were zinc plated, they will grind until it is wore off. I know the Metal Masters on my car with new front rotors ground and vibrated a bit until zinc was wore off and they were worn in...

some sounds i expected, but it's literally too loud to be just wear in. ill check the parking brake thanks!
