Default Parking Brake noise

M NX200t with 41K has developed a more noticeable sound when parking. I've always used the Auto mode for setting the parking brake and a mechanical sound, which I believe to be an actuator has always been present. However, that same sound is now more pronounced and longer in duration. Could this be related to my rear brakes getting on the thin side?

Parking brake actuator assembly:
Operates the motor according to commands from the parking brake ECU assembly, generates the necessary torque with the gears and transmits rotary torque to the rear brake calipers.

Rear brake caliper:
Converts the parking brake actuator assembly rotary torque into driving force to bring the rear brake pads together to generate braking force. When the parking brake motor (parking brake actuator assembly) is stopped, the parked position is maintained with screw friction

Its likely pad wear, due to how the rear brake setup uses the the rear brake pads instead of parking brake drum pads. I would have the brakes checked for pad thickness/condition.
