so what have we learned here?????
that Lexus is only 1 step ahead of Acura and nowhere close to being equal to Mercedes Benz.
if Lexus didn't have rebadged toyotas ...especially the suv's it's sales would truly be insignificant.
Lexus overall has a very limited line of vehicles. 36753 Lexus only cars sold!!!!!!!!!
like i said before....who is chasing who???
If you’re talking about WW Sales, then it’s not really a fair comparison for how you’re trying to make your point given the limited countries the Lexus Brand is sold in. In REAL numbers, post the sales that are for the United States only. Sure MB is going to outsell Lexus WW, they sell EVERYWHERE.
If you want to have a discussion on these topics, being you’re a true MB fan at heart, at least post some reasonable data for us to debate with rather then one sided or unknown types of data.
This will become problematic if MB numbers includes European numbers etc because many Lexus models are sold as high-end Toyota in other countries (Japan for example until this year). EDIT - good, better comparison if they're US only
Sales numbers always vary widely depending on when the new models are introduced.
Also, is there a reason to come in here trying to bring Lexus down and push the MB? While Lexus owners are keeping a very civil discussion over the things you are posting, it is getting harder and harder for us to do so. What I am trying to say is that you are walking a very thin line between trolling (instigating flamewars) and actually giving some interesting discussion points here.
I can argue very well with whatever you have posted but I see no point. This has been discussed way too many times before.

IMO, sales numbers are interesting but not as important as your post intimates to the consumer... Certainly executives and stockholders care about sales, but at no point in my search for an automobile did I go out and look to find out "how many Lexus were sold this year?" Didn't care one bit.. The only time something like this is truly called into question has really been when the financial viablility of an automaker is at issue such as Nissan was a few years ago. I don't in the least mind that there are less GS's on the street that look like mine, rather than 38,123 others that are just like it.
I'd wager that members on our forum care much more about the quality and reliability of our cars... something that Lexus does better than anyone else, including Mercedes. If sales do matter that much, how about a post comparing Mercedes sales to General Motors and Ford sales? Or if they are just "rebadged Toyotas" (which to me means you haven't done any homework on current Lexus models), you should include Toyota sales in your counts for comparison. It's a totally different sales model than Mercedes.

Fine, but please don't troll just to stir up trouble when MBWorld is down for maintenance. You're right on the borderline with a number of recent posts
call Lexus a line of "rebadged Toyotas" if you wish, but I would proudly own a JDM TOYOTA Aristo twin-turbo before ANY, and I mean ANY MB!! But hey, that's just me. Might as well actually get what you are paying for, right?

one thing these sales figures should tell you is that Lexus really
isn't the equal of MB. maybe in the future but right now it is not.
i was very surprised by the very very low amount of Lexus only cars sold
in the US.
would any of you have guessed that just 36753 Lexus only cars were
sold in the US so far this year?????
the numbers also tell you that when you look at the brand in total....that is
Lexus.....what you see is an off shoot of Toyota still trying to establish
itself in the high end luxury market place. maybe this is to understood....maybe not??
as for starting a "flame war".....don't shoot the messenger
because you don't like the message.
heck i've owned 2 hondas, 2 acuras, 4 mitsu's, 7 toyotas....it's not like
i am anti japanese when it comes to my purchases.
another thing that strikes me as hilarious is the fact that a luxury auto company that has been around since the 1870's is looking over it's shoulder at a company or marque that has only existed for 15 years.....what does this tell us about MB??? It tells us that they (as well as some of their customers, obviously) are seriously worried......and rightfully so. Otherwise you probably wouldn't be posting over here on CL to begin with.
Whenever someone uses statistics to prove a point it reminds me of a quote. "There are three kinds of lies. Lies, damn lies, and statistics...." There are so many ways to interprete statistics data, depending on ones bias and agendas.
